COMMENDING Rocco Lombardo upon the occasion of his
designation for special recognition by the CAMBA
Beacon Karate Program on June 13, 2019

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made
significant contributions to the quality of life therein; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Rocco
Lombardo upon the occasion of his designation for special recognition by
the CAMBA Beacon Karate Program to be celebrated at its 25th Anniversary
Event on Thursday, June 13, 2019, at PS 361 in Brooklyn, New York; and

WHEREAS, Founded in 1977, CAMBA is a non-profit agency which
provides services that connect people with opportunities to enhance
their quality of life; and

WHEREAS, CAMBA is a community of clients, staff, volunteers, donors,
neighbors and partners who work together to build an inclusive New York
City, where all children and adults have access to the resources and
support they need to thrive; and

WHEREAS, Rocco Lombardo began practicing Tae Kwon Do as a student at
Xaverian High School in Brooklyn; in 1994, he was instrumental in
forming the CAMBA Beacon Karate Program, with the aim of teaching
students Tae Kwon Do in an after school program designed to serve as a
safe haven for adolescents, children and adults; and

WHEREAS, Since then, Rocco Lombardo has worked with his students to
help them overcome obstacles in class, school, and their lives; through
his classes and the teachings of fellow Black Belts, he hopes to
motivate his students to become teachers who will continue the CAMBA
Beacon Karate Program for many years to come; and

WHEREAS, Rocco Lombardo strives to inspire his students to be better
versions of themselves, and encourages them to do good and always be
good to others; through his due diligence, many of his students live
their lives through his positive mantra; and

WHEREAS, Today, Rocco Lombardo is a 7th Degree Black Belt, living
and teaching Tae Kwon Do in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Rocco Lombardo upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition by the CAMBA Beacon Karate Program on June 13, 2019; and be
it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Rocco Lombardo.
