COMMENDING Charlotte Streater upon the occasion of
her designation for special recognition by the CAMBA
Beacon Karate Program on June 13, 2019

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made
significant contributions to the quality of life therein; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Charlotte
Streater upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition by
the CAMBA Beacon Karate Program to be celebrated at its 25th Anniversary
Event on Thursday, June 13, 2019, at P.S. 361 in Brooklyn, New York; and

WHEREAS, Founded in 1977, CAMBA is a non-profit agency which
provides services that connect people with opportunities to enhance
their quality of life; and

WHEREAS, CAMBA is a community of clients, staff, volunteers, donors,
neighbors and partners who work together to build an inclusive New York
City, where all children and adults have access to the resources and
support they need to thrive; and

WHEREAS, Charlotte Streater started her martial arts career as a
student at P.S. 269 and participant in CAMBA's after-school and evening
programs; in November of 2003, she practiced Tae Kwon Do with
Instructors Rocco Lombardo and Chris DePrado; and

WHEREAS, Charlotte Streater has nurtured her passion for the martial
arts, by striving to serve as a role model and positive influence for
others; she obtained the rank of 3rd Degree Black Belt; and

WHEREAS, From September of 2013 to June 2016, Charlotte Streater
served as an instructor for the Karate Program, teaching her students
the skills and knowledge she learned from her mentors; she truly strived
to be the instructor she always wanted for herself; even though she left
the Program to focus on her undergraduate studies, she continued to
volunteer until June of 2017; and

WHEREAS, In addition to her work with the CAMBA Beacon Karate
Program, Charlotte Streater has taught Tae Kwon Do at various schools
including P.S. 269, P.S. 114, P.S. 92, P.S. 139, P.S. 249, Hudde Junior
High School, and Community Roots Charter School; and

WHEREAS, Charlotte Streater has made great strides in her personal
and professional career since her time as a CAMBA participant, fully
acknowledging the role this vital organization played in her success;
she proudly earned her bachelor's degree with honors from CUNY Brooklyn
College in Children & Youth Studies/ Psychology; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the

recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Charlotte Streater upon the occasion of her designation for
special recognition by the CAMBA Beacon Karate Program on June 13, 2019;
and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Charlotte Streater.
