COMMENDING Tessa I. Hackett-Vieira upon the
occasion of being named a 2019 Hall of Fame Honoree
by Making the Impossible Possible, Inc. on May 26,
2019
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Tessa I. Hackett-Vieira upon the occasion of being named a 2019
Hall of Fame Honoree by Making the Impossible Possible, Inc., to be
celebrated at its 8th Annual Power of Partnerships, Scholarship and Hall
of Fame Gala on Sunday, May 26, 2019, at the BRIC Arts Media, Brooklyn,
New York; and
WHEREAS, Founded in 2001, Making the Impossible Possible, Inc.
(MIPO) is a non-profit membership organization, promoting the quality of
life of Haitian youth in the United States and abroad through education,
music, character building, medical care, apprenticeship training, family
support and scholarships; and
WHEREAS, A Clinical Social Worker, Tessa I. Hackett-Vieira has been
employed with District Council (DC) 37's Municipal Employees Legal
Services Plan since 1993; prior to joining DC 37, she worked with
organizations such as the City of New York's Human Resources
Administration (HRA), Medical Eligibility Program (Medicaid), Bureau of
Medical and Professional Review, and the Administration for Children's
Services (ACS); and
WHEREAS, As a member of the helping profession, Tessa I.
Hackett-Vieira has utilized her varied skills to provide
individual/family counseling, crisis intervention/referral services,
case management and support services in a variety of clinical settings
serving some of the neediest client populations in New York; and
WHEREAS, In her wide-ranging professional practice which includes
foster care/adoption, home care, disability review and child protective
services, Tessa I. Hackett-Vieira prepared psycho-social assessments,
assisted in program planning, workshops, developed and implemented
service/treatment plans to support and uplift families and children; and
WHEREAS, In addition to her current professional responsibilities,
Tessa I. Hackett-Vieira is actively involved with many civic, community
and political organizations; and
WHEREAS, Besides her tenure of service, Tessa I. Hackett-Vieira is
most proud of her role as mother and mentor to her two young adult sons,
Andre' and Kevin; and
WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent
of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to
Tessa I. Hackett-Vieira, that future generations may know and
appreciate her admirable character, her many benevolent deeds, and the
respect and esteem in which she is held by her peers; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Tessa I. Hackett-Vieira upon the occasion of being named a 2019
Hall of Fame Honoree by Making the Impossible Possible, Inc. on May 26,
2019; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Tessa I. Hackett-Vieira.
