COMMENDING Nassau County AHRC Foundation upon the
occasion of it 69th Annual Rose Ball, and paying
tribute to this year's honorees

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
organizations and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare
of the community and its citizenry; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Nassau County AHRC Foundation upon the occasion of it 69th
Annual Rose Ball to be held Friday, June 14, 2019, at Crest Hollow
Country Club in Woodbury, Long Island, and to pay tribute to this year's
honorees; and

WHEREAS, Nassau County AHRC Foundation is a registered charitable
organization whose mission is to receive funds for the benefit of
individuals with intellectual and other developmental disabilities; and

WHEREAS, Thousands of children and adults benefit from Nassau County
AHRC Foundation's support to organizations such as: AHRC Nassau,
Brookville Center for Children's Services, Citizens, Advantage Care
Diagnostic Treatment Center, and other community-based organizations
serving those with special needs; and

WHEREAS, Nassau County AHRC Foundation provides critical support for
the programs and partner organizations of AHRC Nassau; it is through
these programs and partner organizations that the Foundation is able to
provide services across a lifetime; and

WHEREAS, Participation in one of its many events throughout the year
ensures that thousands of children and adults with developmental
disabilities are able to enjoy lives in their communities that are as
independent and fulfilling as possible; and

WHEREAS, Nassau County AHRC Foundation is proud to pay special
tribute to the 2019 honorees: Neal L. Sweeney, CIGNA HealthCare will
receive the Leadership Award; Judge A. Gail Prudenti, Dean & Executive
Director of the Center for Children, Families and the Law at Maurice A.
Deane School of Law at Hofstra University will receive the Humanitarian
Award; and Rady Bruell, parent advocate, will receive the Margaret Rive
Lifetime Achievement Award; and

WHEREAS, Individuals and organizations devoted to improving the
quality of life for others, enabling them to build lives of dignity and
self-worth are deserving of the highest praise and recognition; and

WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent
of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to

Nassau County AHRC Foundation and the 2019 honorees, that future
generations may know and appreciate their admirable character, their
many benevolent deeds, and the respect and esteem in which they are held
by their peers; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Nassau County AHRC Foundation upon the occasion of it 69th
Annual Rose Ball, and to pay tribute to this year's honorees; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Nassau County AHRC Foundation, and the aforementioned
honorees.
