HONORING Sandia and Eric Tosky upon the occasion
of their designation for special recognition by
Temple Isaiah of Great Neck on June 5, 2019

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve
the best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration
and cannot be sufficiently extolled; and

WHEREAS, Sandia and Eric Tosky have given not only of their time and
energies but also of their competence, intelligence and leadership and
consequently have been designated for special honor; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Sandia and
Eric Tosky upon the occasion of their designation for special
recognition by Temple Isaiah of Great Neck to be celebrated at its Gala
Journal Dinner on Wednesday, June 5, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Eric Tosky was born in Brooklyn, in 1955, five years before
his future wife, Sandia Ang, was born 7,480 miles away in Wuhan, China;
neither of the two suspected they would meet in Hell's Kitchen, New York
in 1985, and fall in love; and

WHEREAS, A true leader from a young age, Eric Tosky served as class
president in high school from his sophomore through senior years; he
went on to major in English Literature at Stony Brook University; and

WHEREAS, Sandia Tosky never doubted she would follow in the
footsteps of her parents and become a professional musician; she
attended Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York, before
transferring to Manhattan School of Music where she received her
bachelors and masters degrees in voice; and

WHEREAS, After spending five years as a writer, Eric Tosky began his
studies at New York University where he learned how to design and fit
braces and artificial limbs; he has been the owner of Orthopedic
Alternatives for the past 32 years; and

WHEREAS, Today, Eric and Sandia Tosky are the proud parents of two
sons, Oliver and Simon, who both attended Hebrew school at Temple Isaiah
of Great Neck; and

WHEREAS, Eric and Sandia Tosky have been called upon to contribute
their time and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and
have always given of themselves unstintingly; and

WHEREAS, The couple has tirelessly volunteered at Temple Isaiah of
Great Neck, where they have provided many evenings of classical music
for the temple's fund raising efforts and events; and

WHEREAS, Furthermore, Eric Tosky was selected to oversee the
building of the Sukkah and enjoys chanting from the Torah on Yom Kippur,
while Sandia has been recruited to sing during the high holidays; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by
individuals for the benefit of others which Eric and Sandia Tosky have
displayed throughout their lives; and

WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent
of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to
Sandia and Eric Tosky, that future generations may know and appreciate
their admirable character, their many benevolent deeds, and the respect
and esteem in which they are held by their peers; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Sandia and Eric Tosky upon the occasion of their designation for
special recognition by Temple Isaiah of Great Neck on June 5, 2019; and
be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Sandia and Eric Tosky.
