COMMEMORATING the 50th Anniversary of Concept 1
Unisex Beauty Salon in New Paltz, New York

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize the
achievements of those individuals and businesses which substantially
contribute to the economic vitality of their communities and the entire
Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Concept 1 Unisex Beauty Salon in New
Paltz, New York; and

WHEREAS, When Delores Angelillo-Ward opened Concept 1 Unisex Beauty
Salon in 1969, it was only the third hair salon in New Paltz; and

WHEREAS, Growing up on a farm in Clintondale, New York, Delores
Angelillo-Ward was first exposed to the beauty business by her aunt who
she greatly admired, and who had a beauty salon in the Bronx; by the age
of 12, she was practicing newfound hairstyle skills on her mother and
other family members; and

WHEREAS, After attending New Paltz High School for a year and
graduating from Highland High School, Delores Angelillo-Ward went on to
study at the Central Academy of Beauty Culture in Newburgh; and

WHEREAS, Delores Angelillo-Ward began her illustrious career as a
hair care professional at Mr. John's in Poughkeepsie, where she built a
loyal clientele for three years before relocating; after becoming
licensed in Florida, she returned to the Hudson Valley to open her own
salon; and

WHEREAS, Located at 14 Apple Road in a quiet neighborhood in the
heart of the Hudson Valley, Concept 1 Unisex Beauty Salon specializes in
many styles to complement any client; Delores prides herself on keeping
up to date with the latest trends and providing an exceptional customer
service experience; and

WHEREAS, Concept 1 Unisex Beauty Salon is open Tuesday through
Saturday and carries a full line of Redken products; Delores remains the
primary stylist, with her daughter Lori, a skilled hair stylist and
tattoo artist, available for appointments on Fridays; and

WHEREAS, Delores Angelillo-Ward has continued to update her
education over the years by studying the latest methods and fine-tuning
her skills with experts in the field, including Paul Mitchell in New
York City and Martin Parsons; and

WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering commitment to its
community, Concept 1 Unisex Beauty Salon, under the able leadership of
Delores Angelillo-Ward, is a member of the Ulster County Chamber of
Commerce; and

WHEREAS, Today, Delores Angelillo-Ward resides in Highland, New York
with her husband Fred; in addition to her daughter, she is the proud
mother of one son, Frank, as well as the loving grandmother of two
grandchildren, Luca and Frank, Jr.; and

WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body
acknowledges this exceptional business and its contributions to the
local and State economies, fully confident that it will continue to
enjoy the sparkling successes it has experienced thus far; now,
therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Concept 1 Unisex Beauty Salon in New
Paltz, New York; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Delores Angelillo-Ward, Concept 1 Beauty Salon, New
Paltz, New York.
