COMMENDING Olin Campbell upon the occasion of his
retirement after 50 years of distinguished service
to the Buffalo Niagara YMCA
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the community
and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Olin Campbell upon the occasion of his retirement after 50 years
of distinguished service to the Buffalo Niagara YMCA; and
WHEREAS, Olin Campbell Jr., affectionately known to many as Buddy,
began his long and illustrious career with the Buffalo Niagara YMCA at
the young age of 16 as a camp counselor, swim instructor and lifeguard;
in 1973, he was promoted to the title of Youth and Resident Camp
Director; and
WHEREAS, From these roles, Olin Campbell Jr. rose through the ranks
working in a variety of capacities; since 2013, he has served as both
President and CEO of this worthy non-profit organization which includes
eight branches and two camps; and
WHEREAS, In May of 2019, Olin Campbell Jr. will officially retire
from this leadership position after five decades of devoted service to
the communities of Buffalo, Rochester and Batavia; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Olin Campbell upon the occasion of his retirement after 50 years
of distinguished service to the Buffalo Niagara YMCA, and to wish him
continued success in all his future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Olin Campbell.
