COMMENDING Janice Lubin Kirschner upon the
occasion of her retirement after 27 years of
distinguished service to JCY-Westchester Community
Partners and the Kinship Support Center
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
organizations and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare
of the community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Janice Lubin Kirschner upon the occasion of her retirement after
27 years of distinguished service to JCY-Westchester Community Partners
and the Kinship Support Center, to be celebrated at its Annual Program
Kickoff Event on Wednesday, September 25, 2019; and
WHEREAS, After joining JCY-Westchester Community Partners as Senior
Director in 1997, Janice Lubin Kirschner immediately went to work and
established SMART, the organization's first integration program which
later expanded into many others such as the Holocaust Remembrance and
Education program, Reading Buddies After School, Intro2America, Summer
Reading Buddies, Open Book: Reading Aloud is Ageless, a scholarship
program, the FSSY Kinship Support program as well as many others; and
WHEREAS, In addition to managing these programs, Janice Lubin
Kirschner supervises staff, oversees finances and grant writing, as well
as public relations and fundraising efforts; and
WHEREAS, Under the luminous leadership of Janice Lubin Kirschner,
JCY-Westchester Community Partners and the Kinship Support Center has
become Westchester County's leader in intergenerational volunteer
literacy programs, serving over 7,000 students and more than 700 adults
each year; and
WHEREAS, Janice Lubin Kirschner will officially retire from her role
as Senior Director on May 31, 2019, after 27 years of devoted service to
JCY-Westchester Community Partners and the Kinship Support Center; and
WHEREAS, In her capacity as Senior Director, Janice Lubin Kirschner
served with loyalty, honor and distinction; in her official acts, she
was governed by a keen sense of duty and always showed a unique grasp of
human problems; and
WHEREAS, During her tenure with JCY-Westchester Community Partners
and the Kinship Support Center, Janice Lubin Kirschner earned the
admiration, esteem and affection of her colleagues; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Janice Lubin Kirschner upon the occasion of her retirement after
27 years of distinguished service to JCY-Westchester Community Partners
and the Kinship Support Center, and to wish her continued success in all
her future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Janice Lubin Kirschner.
