COMMENDING 500 Men Making a Difference upon the
occasion of hosting its 4th Annual Ladies Brunch on
May 25, 2019

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those organizations within our midst who have
made significant contributions to the quality of life therein; and

WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of
certain extraordinary individuals and organizations it wishes to
recognize for their valued contributions to the success and progress of
society and publicly acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the
basic humanity among us all; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend 500 Men
Making a Difference upon the occasion of hosting its 4th Annual Ladies
Brunch on Saturday, May 25, 2019, at the New York Marriott at the
Brooklyn Bridge, Brooklyn, New York; and

WHEREAS, Founded in 2010 by Wayne Devonish, 500 Men Making a
Difference, is a non-profit organization operating in the five boroughs
of New York City; and

WHEREAS, 500 Men Making a Difference recruits, trains and matches
mentors who are eligible to support young men ages 12-22; and

WHEREAS, This vital organization is based in Brooklyn, New York, and
engages young men in one-on-one mentoring, hands on community
revitalization projects, group tutoring and volunteer placement; and

WHEREAS, Remaining true to its mission, 500 Men Making a Difference
recruits volunteers, provides mentors and develops leaders within the
community; and

WHEREAS, Over its distinguished history, 500 Men Making a Difference
has demonstrated continuous service to the residents and communities
which it serves; and

WHEREAS, The success of 500 Men Making a Difference is in direct
correlation to the efforts of its dedicated members and volunteers,
whose involvement is, and always has been, characterized by an
impressive commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising
standard of excellence in all endeavors on behalf of the organization
and the community it serves; and

WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents an opportunity for this
Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to 500 Men Making a
Difference; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals and organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are
brought to our attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by
all the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it


RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend 500 Men Making a Difference upon the occasion of hosting its 4th
Annual Ladies Brunch on May 25, 2019; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Wayne Devonish, Principal Founder and Chairman, 500 Men
Making a Difference.
