COMMENDING the Neighborhood Technical Assistance
Clinic upon the occasion of hosting its 12th Annual
Gala, and paying tribute to this year's honorees

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those organizations and individuals within our
midst who have made significant contributions to the quality of life
therein; and

WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of
certain extraordinary individuals and organizations it wishes to
recognize for their valued contributions to the success and progress of
society and publicly acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the
basic humanity among us all; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend the
Neighborhood Technical Assistance Clinic upon the occasion of hosting
its 12th Annual Gala on Saturday, June 11, 2019, at Giando on the Water,
Brooklyn, New York; and

WHEREAS, The 2019 Honorees include: Coreen Simpson, Lifetime
Achievement Award; Omar Hawthorne, Caribbean Man of the Year; and
Mirlande L. Martin, Caribbean Woman of the Year; and

WHEREAS, The Neighborhood Technical Assistance Clinic (NTAC), under
the leadership of its Founder/President/CEO, The Reverend Dr. Valerie
Oliver-Durrah, is a

strategic partner and advisor to philanthropists, foundations,
government and political entities, public institutions, grassroots
nonprofit organizations, and faith-based institutions wishing to improve
their programs and organizational effectiveness in addressing the needs
of low-income and service-starved communities; and

WHEREAS, In addition, NTAC provides consultation, strategic
direction, management, technical assistance and forums for increasing
substantive outcomes in all areas of human and financial investment; and

WHEREAS, For more than 20 years, NTAC has given focus to grassroots
and community-centered non-profit endeavors; this vital organization has
built a portfolio of experience and best practices with customized
trainings and hands-on guidance designed to build the capacity of
volunteers, staff, management and board level nonprofit practitioners;
and

WHEREAS, The success of the Neighborhood Technical Assistance Clinic
is in direct correlation to the efforts of Reverend Dr. Valerie
Oliver-Durrah and its members, whose involvement is, and always has
been, characterized by an impressive commitment, an unbridled
enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of excellence in all
endeavors on behalf of the organization and the community it serves; and

WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents an opportunity for this
Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to the Neighborhood
Technical Assistance Clinic; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
organizations and individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are
brought to our attention, they should be recognized and applauded by all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Neighborhood Technical Assistance Clinic upon the occasion
of hosting its 12th Annual Gala, and to pay tribute to this year's
honorees; and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Reverend Dr. Valerie Oliver-Durrah,
Founder/President/CEO, Neighborhood Technical Assistance Clinic; and the
aforementioned honorees.
