HONORING Undersheriff Michael A. Jackson upon the
occasion of his retirement after 37 years of
distinguished service to the Tioga County Sheriff's
Office

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
honor those distinguished officers and citizens who would devote
themselves to public service, demonstrating great courage and diligence
in providing for the care and welfare of the citizens of their
communities and this great Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Within every community of the State of New York there are
certain individuals who, by virtue of their commitment and dedication,
command the respect and admiration of their community for their
exemplary contributions and service on behalf of others; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Undersheriff
Michael A. Jackson upon the occasion of his retirement after 37 years of
distinguished service to the Tioga County Sheriff's Office; and

WHEREAS, Michael A. Jackson began his illustrious career with the
Tioga County Sheriff's Office as a Deputy Sheriff on January 1, 1982; he
was promoted to Technical Sergeant on December 30, 1989, before being
appointed as Undersheriff on January 1, 2004, the esteemed position from
which he will officially retire on Saturday, May 25, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Throughout his tenure, which traversed nearly four decades,
Undersheriff Michael A. Jackson was instrumental in the financial
aspects of the Sheriff's Office and his countless contributions to its
daily operation with be sorely missed; and

WHEREAS, For the past 37 years, Undersheriff Michael A. Jackson
rendered faithful, conscientious and valuable service to the Tioga
County Sheriff's Office, earning the admiration, esteem and affection of
his colleagues; and

WHEREAS, In his capacity as Undersheriff, Michael A. Jackson served
with loyalty, honor and distinction, and was governed by a keen sense of
duty and always showed a unique grasp of human problems in his official
acts; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the occurrence of such a compassionate
blending of strength, leadership, intellect, and commitment as that
demonstrated by Undersheriff Michael A. Jackson over a lifetime of
public service, sacrifice and dedication to others; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those
dedicated public servants who unselfishly devote their lives to the
preservation of order and the protection of others are worthy and due
full praise for their commitment and noble endeavors; now, therefore, be
it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Undersheriff Michael A. Jackson upon the occasion of his
retirement after 37 years of distinguished service to the Tioga County
Sheriff's Office; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Undersheriff Michael A. Jackson.
