CONGRATULATING Diane Broth upon the occasion of
her retirement after many years of distinguished
service to the New York City School System
WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to take note of
and publicly acknowledge individuals of remarkable integrity and
character whose endeavors have enhanced the quality of education in this
great State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate Diane Broth upon the occasion of her retirement after many
years of distinguished service to the New York City School System to be
celebrated with a party in her honor on Monday, June 10, 2019; and
WHEREAS, The result of many individual efforts, the excellence and
the success of the New York City School System is due in large part to
the efforts of Diane Broth; and
WHEREAS, A distinguished educator, Diane Broth is a licensed
Librarian and Technology Specialist for the New York City School System
with a master's degree in Library and Information Science and a
Supervisor's License which has helped countless students and fellow
teachers in their endeavors; and
WHEREAS, Diane Broth began her illustrious career in 1973, as a
Bibliographic Researcher at Brooklyn College where she also worked as an
Adjunct Lecturer and a Career Counselor; and
WHEREAS, A truly dedicated mother, Diane Broth gave tirelessly of
her time and energies to Public School 194 while her children were in
attendance and beyond; she ran the entire library and volunteered with
the school's chorus before being elected to the Executive Board of the
Parents' Association; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, during this time, she was on the committee
which was instrumental in naming Public School 194, The Raoul Wallenberg
School; and
WHEREAS, In September of 1984, Diane Broth started her professional
lifelong career as an educator in Public School 194; she began as a
Kindergarten Teacher and went on to teach the Gifted Second Grade before
becoming a Computer Technology Specialist, the esteemed position from
which she will retire after 35 years of dedicated service; and
WHEREAS, Diane Broth was also the Supervisor of the Greater
Sheepshead Bay Development Program for the After-School Program at
Public School 194; and
WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering commitment to education,
Diane Broth has been the Chairperson of the School Leadership Team since
its inception in 1994, as well as the Chapter Chairperson of the United
Federation of Teachers; and
WHEREAS, Active within her community, Diane Broth serves on the
Board of Directors of the Mill Island Civic Association and is a member
of the County Committee; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout has been her husband of 45 years,
Ronald, and their two children, Jason (Jessica) and Beth (Jordan), as
well as five grandchildren, Ryan, Drew, Skylar, Carter and Slater, who
have all shown her love and support and rejoice in her many
achievements; and
WHEREAS, A significant contributor to education in New York State,
Diane Broth has continually demonstrated an impressive dedication, an
unparalleled devotion and an unremitting enthusiasm for the quality of
the educational programs and opportunities offered within the New York
City School System for the benefit of its faculty and students, as well
as for the entire community; and
WHEREAS, In completing her service as Computer Technology
Specialist, Diane Broth leaves behind more than mere bricks and mortar;
she leaves behind a legacy to the countless students whose lives she has
touched and to the residents of her community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Diane Broth upon the occasion of her retirement after many
years of distinguished service to the New York City School System; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Diane Broth.
