CONGRATULATING Dennis P. Surace upon the occasion
of his retirement after 34 years of distinguished
service to NBT Bank

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body seeks to acknowledge those
individuals whose professional lives and civic endeavors serve to
enhance the stature of the State of New York; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate
Dennis P. Surace upon the occasion of his retirement after 34 years of
distinguished service to NBT Bank; and

WHEREAS, Dennis P. Surace has been a vital member of the banking
community for over five decades, beginning his illustrious career with
Marine Midland Bank in Rome, New York; in 1977, he initiated the opening
of the NBT Westgate Office, and 10 years later, the NBT Office on Black
River Boulevard; and

WHEREAS, In 1985, Dennis P. Surace joined NBT Bank where he quickly
rose through the ranks; in 2010, he was promoted to the title of Mohawk
Valley Regional Executive, the position from which he will officially
retire at the end of 2019; and

WHEREAS, Dennis P. Surace was an instructor for the American
Institute of Banking, and for 43 years, he has been an active member of
the Rome Area Chamber of Commerce, where he served on the Board of
Directors and the Honor America Days Silent Auction Committee; and

WHEREAS, Devoted to his community, Dennis P. Surace was a
participant of numerous other Boards of Directors including the Lutheran
Home Foundation, Capitol Theater, and the Office of the Rome City
Assessor; today, he serves on the Boards of Directors for Rome Memorial
Hospital, the Rome Industrial Development Corporation, and the Rome
Community Foundation; for 27 years, he has been a member of the Utica
Boilermaker Wheel Chair Division; and

WHEREAS, For the past 34 years, Dennis P. Surace rendered faithful,
conscientious and valuable service to NBT Bank; in his capacity as
Mohawk Valley Regional Executive, he served with loyalty, honor and
distinction; and

WHEREAS, In his official acts, Dennis P. Surace was governed by a
keen sense of duty and always showed a unique grasp of human problems;
and

WHEREAS, During his tenure with NBT Bank, Dennis P. Surace earned
the admiration, esteem and affection of his colleagues; now, therefore,
be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Dennis P. Surace upon the occasion of his retirement after
34 years of distinguished service to NBT Bank, and to wish him continued
success in all his future endeavors; and be it further


RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Dennis P. Surace.
