COMMEMORATING the dedication of the new facility
at the LaPenta School of Business at Iona College on
December 11, 2019

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend those exemplary institutions of higher education within the
State of New York for their enduring commitment to the pursuit of
academic excellence; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the dedication of the new facility at the LaPenta School of
Business at Iona College, to be celebrated at a ceremony on Wednesday,
December 11, 2019; and

WHEREAS, In the Fall of 2016, Iona College announced plans for a new
facility for the LaPenta School of Business; the modern facility will
incorporate part of the existing Hagan Hall while more than doubling the
space for classrooms, lectures and faculty offices; and

WHEREAS, The facility will showcase the front of Hagan Hall, along
with its iconic cupola, and will set it in an open glass atrium with
views to the rest of campus; the atrium, or Grand Hall, will be a
gathering space and a venue for larger events than can currently be
accommodated elsewhere on campus; and

WHEREAS, Along with state-of-the-art smart classrooms, case-study
and breakout rooms, a business career center, quiet study space, and
integrated faculty and administrative offices, the new structure will
also feature an expanded and relocated LaPenta-Lynch Trading Floor, a
LaPenta School of Business centerpiece since it opened in October of
2011; and

WHEREAS, The LaPenta School of Business offers students high-quality
academic programs in all aspects of business; students develop broad
knowledge and capabilities in general business concepts, and also
develop a deep understanding of the area they choose as their major; and

WHEREAS, Additionally, students have many opportunities to improve
their career readiness and leverage out-of-class experiences to prepare
themselves thoroughly for the next stage of their lives; and

WHEREAS, Since its inception, the LaPenta School of Business at Iona
College has been defined by unparalleled standards of learning and has
produced countless leaders throughout the world; and

WHEREAS, With great admiration, this Legislative Body is proud to
pay tribute to this eminent university which stands at the threshold of
the future with its legacy of outstanding achievements and its
impressive body of distinguished alumni; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the dedication of the new facility at the LaPenta School of
Business at Iona College on December 11, 2019; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to William B. Lamb, Ph.D., Dean of LaPenta School of
Business.
