COMMEMORATING the dedication of the Hynes
Institute for Entrepreneurship & Innovation at Iona
College on September 12, 2019

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend those institutions of true purpose and high achievement whose
exemplary programs and accomplishments clearly demonstrate the pursuit
of excellence in education and service to the community; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the dedication of the Hynes Institute for Entrepreneurship &
Innovation at Iona College on Thursday, September 12, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Established in 2017, the Hynes Institute for
Entrepreneurship & Innovation is an emerging program which aims to
prepare the next generation of entrepreneurs, innovators and leaders to
move the world; and

WHEREAS, Furthermore, this vital program ensures students develop
the knowledge, skills and experience required to create, innovate and
lead in a global economy; and

WHEREAS, Under the luminous direction of Endowed Professor and
Founding Program Director Dr. Christoph Winkler, the Hynes Institute for
Entrepreneurship & Innovation provides students with an environment
which fosters an entrepreneurial mindset through practice and creative
problem-solving across all disciplines and schools; and

WHEREAS, Entrepreneurship is a universal skill set that gives
students the ability to take ownership of their learning by identifying
and solving the big challenges of the world through innovation; and

WHEREAS, Remaining true to its mission, the Hynes Institute for
Entrepreneurship & Innovation creates and fosters an interdisciplinary
community of Iona students who engage in entrepreneurial learning
opportunities to develop an entrepreneurial mindset; and

WHEREAS, Through this entrepreneurial process, Iona students are not
only able to create a better world for themselves, but also the
communities in which they live and work; and

WHEREAS, The Hynes Institute for Entrepreneurship & Innovation
offers: interdisciplinary curricular in entrepreneurship and innovation
for all students in any major; co-curricular programming such as student
clubs, speaker series, workshops, competitions, community engagement,
internships, as well as co-working, mentoring and networking
opportunities; opportunities to work with Hynes Faculty Fellows,
Entrepreneurs-in-Residence, accomplished alumni and visiting
entrepreneurs; and access to start-up support, mentorship and funding,
and a newly established community incubator; and

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when
institutions of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the dedication of the Hynes Institute for Entrepreneurship &
Innovation at Iona College on September 12, 2019; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the Hynes Institute for Entrepreneurship & Innovation,
Iona College.
