COMMENDING Frank J. Lasch posthumously upon the
occasion of his designation for special recognition
by Albany County at its Honor a Deceased Veteran
Ceremony on August 5, 2019

WHEREAS, Members of the Armed Services from the State of New York,
who have served so valiantly and honorably in wars in which this
country's freedom was at stake, as well as in the preservation of peace
in peacetime, deserve a special salute; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Frank J.
Lasch posthumously upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition by Albany County at its Honor a Deceased Veteran Ceremony to
be celebrated on Monday, August 5, 2019, at the USS Slater, Albany, New
York; and

WHEREAS, Frank J. Lasch was born on April 1, 1932, in Albany, New
York, to Edward and Mary (O'Brien) Lasch; and

WHEREAS, A graduate of Christian Brothers Academy, Frank J. Lasch
furthered his education attending the College of the Holy Cross and
Cornell Law School; upon graduation from law school he was commissioned
by the Officer Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island; and

WHEREAS, Frank J. Lasch served his country in the United States Navy
aboard the USS Robert L. Wilson and USS Parsons until he was honorably
discharged in 1960, with the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade (LTJG); and

WHEREAS, Upon the completion of his military service, Frank J. Lasch
returned to the Capital District area and joined the law firm of DeGraff
Foy in Albany, where he worked for 40 years practicing law; and

WHEREAS, In 1965, Frank J. Lasch married Mary Ellen Gallagher Lasch,
and together the couple raised nine children, and were the loving
grandparents to 27 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Devoted to his fellow veterans and community, Frank J.
Lasch served as President/Trustee of the Destroyer Escort Historical
Museum (USS Slater), and Trustee of both the Teresian House and the
Community Foundation of the Capital Region; and

WHEREAS, Furthermore, Frank J. Lasch served as Trustee to LaSalle
School for Boys, Siena College and Maria College; he was also the
President/Trustee of the Lake George Club, and a member of the Albany
County Club; and

WHEREAS, Frank J. Lasch was a congregant of St. Pius Church; in
2006, for his time and talents, he received the esteemed In Hoc Signo
Award by the Holy Cross Alumni Association; and

WHEREAS, Frank J. Lasch loved traveling, and was very proud to be
able to say he visited all seven continents; and

WHEREAS, Frank J. Lasch died on May 16, 2018, in Loudonville, New
York, at the age of 86; and

WHEREAS, Residents of this great State must never forget the courage
with which these men and women served their country, and must recognize
that no greater debt is owed than that owed to those who gave their
lives for their beloved Nation and to those who continue to be missing
in action; and

WHEREAS, Having exhibited his patriotism both at home and abroad,
Frank J. Lasch demonstrated his love for his country and merits
forevermore, the highest respect of his State and Nation; and

WHEREAS, Our Nation's veterans deserve to be recognized, commended
and thanked by the people of the State of New York for their service and
for their dedication to their communities, their State and their Nation;
now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Frank J. Lasch posthumously upon the occasion of his designation
for special recognition by Albany County at its Honor a Deceased Veteran
Ceremony on August 5, 2019; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Frank J. Lasch.
