MOURNING the death of William T. Parker, Sr.,
distinguished citizen, devoted member of his
community and loving family man

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and

WHEREAS, It is with feelings of deepest regret that this Legislative
Body records the passing of William T. Parker, Sr., an extraordinary man
of indomitable faith and dedication whose purposeful life will long
serve as a standard to which others might aspire; and

WHEREAS, William T. Parker, Sr. of Vestal, New York, died on
Thursday, August 15, 2019, at the age of 91; and

WHEREAS, A graduate of Canastota High School, William T. Parker, Sr.
went on to serve proudly in the United States Army before beginning his
career in broadcasting; and

WHEREAS, This extraordinary man was a constant voice on the local
airways, either via television or radio for over 50 years; he hosted
children's shows such as "TV Ranch Club", "Captain Galaxy", and the
"Officer Bill Show", created to promote respect for the law; and

WHEREAS, William T. Parker, Sr. was well respected by those serving
alongside him regarding his work with children and keeping the community
safe; he also emceed at many events, received several awards, and was
recognized for his many achievements; and

WHEREAS, William T. Parker, Sr. distinguished himself in his
profession and by his sincere dedication and substantial contribution to
the welfare of his community; and

WHEREAS, Seeing his family smile brought great joy to William T.
Parker, Sr.; an amazing father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who
will be greatly missed by all; and

WHEREAS, William T. Parker, Sr.'s commitment to excellence, and his
spirit of humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise,
including charitable and civic endeavors; and

WHEREAS, Predeceased by his wife, Anne; his parents, Alfred and
Florence; his granddaughter, Michelle; his great-grandson, Jack; William
T. Parker, Sr. is survived by his daughters, Brenda (William), JoAnne
(Michael); son, William Jr. (Linda); 18 grandchildren, Corey, Jessica,
Mathew, Marcy, Christina, Randy, Meghan, Ryan, Tabitha, Sheri, Ryan,
William, Melissa, Jennifer, Matt, Samantha, Taber, and Michala; 10
great-grandchildren, Peyton, Parker, Finley, Isabel, Carson, Luca,
Brody, Ryan, Gwendalyn and Grayson; his nephew, several great-nieces,
nephews and cousins; he is also survived by his caretaker, Jody, who
cared for him with love; and


WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, William T. Parker, Sr. leaves behind a legacy which will
long endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory
to all he served and befriended; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of William T. Parker, Sr., distinguished citizen,
devoted member of his community and loving family man; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of William T. Parker, Sr.
