HONORING Piper Altman upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the President's
Volunteer Service Gold Award

WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of
certain extraordinary individuals it wishes to recognize for their
valued contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Piper Altman upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the
President's Volunteer Service Gold Award; and

WHEREAS, The President's Volunteer Service Gold Award is endorsed by
the President of the United States and recognizes individuals who make
significant contributions to their communities in the form of volunteer
work; and

WHEREAS, Piper Altman's contributions to her hometown of Mattituck,
New York, include over 100 hours of volunteer work at her local library,
school, and two local animal shelters; she managed to complete her
service all while maintaining high honor roll status since seventh
grade; and

WHEREAS, In addition to her volunteer work, Piper Altman is also a
member of the Mattituck High School Art Olympics Team, and has received
Perfect Score Distinguished honors in 2017 and 2018, as well as Perfect
Score Distinguished with Mastery in 2019 on her NYSATA Art Portfolio
reviews; and

WHEREAS, Despite her busy school schedule, Piper Altman also plays
an active role in her community; she has served as a member of the Teen
Advisory Board at her local library for three years and is a Senior Girl
Scout in her tenth year of service; furthermore, she has received both
the Girl Scout Bronze and Silver Awards and will begin her Girl Scout
Gold Award Project this spring; and

WHEREAS, Truly above and beyond her countless hours of volunteer
work, Piper Altman contributed 32 hours of community service during a
Cross-Cultural Service Project, which she completed while she lived and
worked with the citizens of the Navajo Nation in Colorado during the
summer of 2019; and

WHEREAS, Truly a pillar of her community in Mattituck, New York,
Piper Altman has shown the ability and desire to improve the lives of
all of those around her through her commitment to community service; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Piper Altman has displayed
throughout her life; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Piper Altman upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the President's Volunteer Service Gold Award; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Piper Altman.
