HONORING William Goodman upon the occasion of his
retirement after five decades of public service
WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve
the best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration
and cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, William Goodman has given not only of his time and energies
but also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor William
Goodman upon the occasion of his retirement after five decades of public
service, to be celebrated with a party in his honor on Wednesday,
December 18, 2019; he will officially retire on Tuesday, December 31,
2019; and
WHEREAS, William Goodman, a former eighth-grade history teacher in
Whitesboro, New York, is retiring from public service after serving 29
years as a member of the Oneida County Board of Legislators; and
WHEREAS, A Korean War veteran, William Goodman began serving his
community with the Whitestown Town Board for a decade; he then served as
town supervisor for 12 years before his tenure on the Board of
Legislators; and
WHEREAS, One of William Goodman's crowning achievements in public
service includes working with the Oneida County Sheriff's office to have
special patrol officers present in the schools throughout the county;
and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, William Goodman has stood constant
in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which William Goodman has displayed
throughout his life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor William Goodman upon the occasion of his retirement after five
decades of public service, and to wish him well in all his future
endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to William Goodman.
