COMMENDING Valedictorian Maya Goss and
Salutatorian Hammad Izhar of Floral Park Memorial
High School, in recognition of their outstanding
accomplishments

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act in accord
with its long-standing traditions, to honor the youth of today, the
leaders of tomorrow, whose character and achievements exemplify the
ideals and values cherished by this great State and Nation; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Valedictorian Maya Goss and Salutatorian Hammad Izhar of Floral Park
Memorial High School, in recognition of their outstanding
accomplishments; and

WHEREAS, Maya Goss, with a 104.05 GPA, scored a 1540 on the SAT and
a 35 on the ACT; along with her academic achievements, she is an
invaluable member of the school's award-winning Marching Band; and

WHEREAS, This extraordinary young lady is also involved with the
Metro New York Youth Adult Committee, an initiative spearheaded by her
church; for the last two years, she has been planning and organizing
group events for the Unitarian Universality Metro Community, promoting
youth to work together; and

WHEREAS, Hammad Izhar, with a 103.3 GPA, scored a 1530 on his SAT
and attained a perfect score on the Math II and Biology Subject Tests;
and

WHEREAS, This exceptional young man is enrolled in the district's
Instrumentation and Automation Program, where he is a student in the
Physics "C" curriculum and will sit for the advanced placement exam in
that subject in June of 2020; and

WHEREAS, Valedictorian Maya Goss and Salutatorian Hammad Izhar
represent the best of developed potential inherent in our most precious
resource, our youth; their achievements have brought enduring honor to
their families and communities and should be recognized and saluted; and

WHEREAS, Valedictorian Maya Goss and Salutatorian Hammad Izhar may
now stand with pride as they assess their achievements, experience the
satisfaction of their labors and the joy of their accomplishments, eager
to face the new experiences of a challenging world; now, therefore, be
it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Valedictorian Maya Goss and Salutatorian Hammad Izhar of Floral
Park Memorial High School, in recognition of their outstanding
accomplishments; and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Valedictorian Maya Goss and Salutatorian Hammad Izhar.
