COMMENDING Class of 2020 Salutatorian Megha Gopal
of New Hyde Park Memorial High School, in
recognition of her outstanding accomplishments
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act in accord
with its long-standing traditions, to honor the youth of today, the
leaders of tomorrow, whose character and achievements exemplify the
ideals and values cherished by this great State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Class of 2020 Salutatorian Megha Gopal of New Hyde Park Memorial
High School, in recognition of her outstanding accomplishments; and
WHEREAS, Megha Gopal, with a 103.02 GPA, took neuroscience classes
at Columbia University, as well as probability and organic chemistry;
she is also a National Merit Semifinalist; and
WHEREAS, This exceptional young woman attended the National Youth
Leadership Forum on Medicine and received a Johns Hopkins Research Grant
in which she used to conduct research on innovative ways to clean
landfills; and
WHEREAS, As a junior, Megha Gopal was awarded the Rensselaer Medal
and has participated in various research projects through both the Long
Island Science and Engineering Fair and the Long Island Science
Congress; and
WHEREAS, Salutatorian Megha Gopal represents the best of developed
potential inherent in our most precious resource, our youth; her
achievements have brought enduring honor to both her family and her
community and should be recognized and saluted; and
WHEREAS, Salutatorian Megha Gopal may now stand with pride as she
assesses her achievements, experiences the satisfaction of her labors
and the joys of her accomplishments, eager to face the new experiences
of a challenging world; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Class of 2020 Salutatorian Megha Gopal of New Hyde Park Memorial
High School, in recognition of her outstanding accomplishments; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Megha Gopal.
