COMMENDING Valedictorian Saba Gulzar and
Salutatorian Megha Gopal of New Hyde Park Memorial
High School, in recognition of their outstanding
accomplishments

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act in accord
with its long-standing traditions, to honor the youth of today, the
leaders of tomorrow, whose character and achievements exemplify the
ideals and values cherished by this great State and Nation; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Valedictorian Saba Gulzar and Salutatorian Megha Gopal of New Hyde Park
Memorial High School, in recognition of their outstanding
accomplishments; and

WHEREAS, Saba Gulzar, with a 103.23 GPA, studied skin grafting at
Stony Brook University and learned about genetics and molecular biology
at Columbia University; and

WHEREAS, As a junior, this remarkable scholar was the sole recipient
of the Bausch and Lomb Honorary Science Award; and

WHEREAS, Megha Gopal, with a 103.02 GPA, took neuroscience classes
at Columbia University, as well as probability and organic chemistry;
she is also a National Merit Semifinalist; and

WHEREAS, This exceptional young woman attended the National Youth
Leadership Forum on Medicine and received a Johns Hopkins Research Grant
in which she used to conduct research on innovative ways to clean
landfills; and

WHEREAS, Valedictorian Saba Gulzar and Salutatorian Megha Gopal
represent the best of developed potential inherent in our most precious
resource, our youth; their achievements have brought enduring honor to
both their families and their communities and should be recognized and
saluted; and

WHEREAS, Valedictorian Saba Gulzar and Salutatorian Megha Gopal may
now stand with pride as they assess their achievements, experience the
satisfaction of their labors and the joys of their accomplishments,
eager to face the new experiences of a challenging world; now,
therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Class of Valedictorian Saba Gulzar and Salutatorian Megha Gopal
of New Hyde Park Memorial High School, in recognition of their
outstanding accomplishments; and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Valedictorian Saba Gulzar and Salutatorian Megha Gopal.
