CONGRATULATING Jewel Montgomery upon the occasion
of receiving the distinguished Summit rank, the most
prestigious award for Venturing Crew, a Boy Scouts
of America program

WHEREAS, Jewel Montgomery, through her diligence and rigorous
efforts, has achieved the rank of Summit, which is the highest award for
Venturing Crew, a Boy Scouts of America program; she received this
auspicious award on Saturday, November 2, 2019; and

WHEREAS, 20 year old Jewel Montgomery has been an active member of
the Venturing program as well as with Sea Scouts since the age of 14;
she plans to serve as an adult volunteer for the Venturing program when
she turns 21; and

WHEREAS, America has achieved her greatest heights of glory through
the dedication, determination and tireless efforts of the outstanding
citizens of this Nation; and

WHEREAS, It is only with the continued diligence and devotion of our
youth, tomorrow's leaders, that America will maintain her glory; and

WHEREAS, The Boy Scouts of America and its Venturing program members
are dedicated to the development of character in the youth of this
Nation; and

WHEREAS, The highest achievement for mentoring in the Boy Scouts
Venturing program is the Summit Award which requires serving as a crew
leader and mentoring others, as well as strengthening community and
benefiting others; and

WHEREAS, This outstanding young woman has been involved in
Scouting's Venturing program for many years, and has lived up to the
program's ideals, attaining all of the necessary achievements, including
completion of a service project, which was successfully planned,
developed and executed; and

WHEREAS, For her project, Jewel Montgomery constructed an American
flag retirement box which is located at the Don Rounds American Legion
Post No. 586 in Adams, New York; and

WHEREAS, The perseverance of Jewel Montgomery in rising through the
Venture program and achieving the Summit rank is a strong indication of
her ability to master difficult tasks; her accomplishment will enable
her to emerge as a leader, fully equipped to meet the challenges of
today's complex society; and

WHEREAS, Jewel Montgomery is a credit to her family, her community,
her State and her Nation, and no doubt her future will be filled with
accomplishments of equal importance; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations, in
recognition of the significance of this meritorious achievement, to

congratulate and honor Jewel Montgomery on achieving the rank of Summit;
and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Jewel Montgomery.
