COMMENDING the Urban Male Leadership Program upon
the occasion of hosting its Annual Gala

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body takes great pride in applauding
organizations whose diligence and compassionate commitment help to
improve the quality of life of others; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend the Urban Male Leadership Program upon the occasion of hosting
its Annual Gala on Saturday, February 29, 2020, at Eastwood Manor
Caterers, Bronx, New York; and

WHEREAS, The Urban Male Leadership Program (UMLP) is designed to
facilitate the successful transition of first-year and transfer students
to Lehman College in the Bronx; and

WHEREAS, Focused upon the recruitment, retention, academic success
and graduation of students, the UMLP fulfills its mission to support
high achievement through monthly academic intervention, success
workshops, and leadership development trainings; and

WHEREAS, Furthermore, each interested UMLP student is presented with
an opportunity to participate within Circle of Support Mentorship
sessions; and

WHEREAS, UMLP students are paired with another student, staff
member, faculty member or senior administrator, in an effort to further
assist in their academic and social development at Lehman College; and

WHEREAS, It is in the interest of New York State to recognize the
achievements made and to continue these efforts by promoting the
awareness and fostering the understanding of the Urban Male Leadership
Program; and

WHEREAS, All citizens of this great Empire State applaud the staff
and administration of the Urban Male Leadership Program; their
compassion and commitment make a significant impact on the lives of many
and highlights the importance of this esteemed organization; now,
therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Urban Male Leadership Program upon the occasion of hosting
its Annual Gala; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the Urban Male Leadership Program.
