COMMENDING Theodore S. Kogut upon the occasion of
his designation for special recognition after 50
years of dedicated service to the Maynard Fire
Department
WHEREAS, Citizens across our great State and Nation are inspired by
and indebted to our noble volunteer firefighters who exhibit courage and
bravery every day in the course of their duties; and
WHEREAS, Volunteer firefighters exemplify the power of human
compassion and the strength of the American spirit through actions of
the most heroic magnitude; their sacrifices and their selfless
dedication merit tribute and recognition by all citizens of this great
country; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Theodore
S. Kogut upon the occasion of his special recognition after 50 years of
dedicated service to the Maynard Fire Department, to be celebrated at
the Departments Annual Banquet, February 1, 2020, at Aqua Vino
Restaurant & Banquets, Utica, New York; and
WHEREAS, Theodore S. Kogut, born on March 4, 1948, was a member of
the Class of 1967 from Whitesboro High School in Marcy, New York; and
WHEREAS, Formerly an employee for New York Telephone Company, now
Verizon, Theodore S. Kogut started as a lineman and retired as a
repairman and installer; and
WHEREAS, Currently, Theodore S. Kogut is the CEO of Hammers and
Nails, serving as a handyman for jobs in the Oneida County area; and
WHEREAS, Theodore S. Kogut joined the Maynard Fire Department on
January 12, 1970, he proceeded to rise up the ranks and become the
Commissioner of the Maynard Fire District in 2003, and in September of
2018, became the Chairman of the Maynard Fire District, both positions
he still holds today; and
WHEREAS, True to his craft, Theodore S. Kogut also serves as the
Maynard Fire Department's Handyman, handling a multitude of jobs ranging
from painting to fixing doors; and
WHEREAS, Joining him in celebrating this momentous occasion is his
wife of 46 years, the former Carol Leverick; as well as his children,
Laura, Kevin, and Jennifer; and
WHEREAS, A true pillar of his community, Theodore S. Kogut has
constantly served his friends, family and neighbors valiantly throughout
his life and is deserving of the highest praise; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that we should
give special recognition to those who work so assiduously for the
betterment of their communities, and acknowledge publicly the heroic
good works performed by the volunteer fire departments of this great
Empire State, their officers and auxiliaries; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
proudly commend Theodore S. Kogut upon the occasion of his designation
for special recognition after 50 years of dedicated service to the
Maynard Fire Department; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Theodore S. Kogut.
