Senate Resolution No. 2572

COMMENDING Shane Broadwell upon the occasion of
his retirement after seven years of distinguished
service as an Oswego County Legislator

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to convey its
grateful appreciation in recognition of the service of Shane Broadwell
who worked diligently on behalf of the people of Oswego County to
improve the region as a whole; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Shane Broadwell upon the occasion of his retirement after seven
years of distinguished service as an Oswego County Legislator; and

WHEREAS, Since October of 2012, Shane Broadwell served the people of
the 17th District, which includes portions of the City of Oswego, as
well as the Town of Scriba; and

WHEREAS, During his service on the Oswego County Legislature, Shane
Broadwell served on the Human Services and Personnel Committees for four
years each, including tenures as committee chairman for two years each;
and

WHEREAS, Shane Broadwell also served on the Public Safety Committee
for three years, the Economic Development and Planning Committee for two
years and Government, Courts and Consumer Affairs Committee for one
year; and

WHEREAS, In 2018, Shane Broadwell served as Legislature Chair; and

WHEREAS, Throughout his tenure on the Oswego County Legislature,
Shane Broadwell was a tireless advocate for a number of causes and
encouraged collaboration between county lawmakers, local school
districts and county departments to achieve results-namely strengthening
the county's workforce, revitalizing neighborhoods, enhancing
programming in county schools and improving overall safety in the
county; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
celebrate the public service of Shane Broadwell and the numerous,
positive contributions he has made to Oswego County; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Shane Broadwell.
