CONGRATULATING TechnoQueens upon the occasion
winning the Top Award and Team Choice Award in the
FIRST Lego League Junior World Championship, and for
their participation in the FIRST Lego League World
Invitational

WHEREAS, Educational competitions which serve to better prepare our
students for their future participation in the areas of Science and
Technology are worthy of praise and support; and

WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to commend and
pay tribute to those young people who, by achieving outstanding success
in educational competition, have inspired and brought pride to our
majestic Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate TechnoQueens upon the occasion of winning the Top Award and
Team Choice Award in the FIRST Lego League Junior World Championship,
and for their participation in the FIRST Lego League World Invitational
in April of 2019; and

WHEREAS, FIRST, For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and
Technology, was founded in 1989 to inspire young people's interest and
participation in science and technology; and

WHEREAS, This vital organization designs accessible, innovative
programs, including Lego League Junior, which motivate youth to pursue
education and career opportunities in science, technology, engineering,
and math, while building self-confidence, knowledge, and life skills;
and

WHEREAS, TechnoQueens, a Junior First Lego League team comprised of
seven young and bright girls from Elementary Schools in Jericho, New
York, captured the Top Award in the FIRST World Championship held in
April of 2018, in Detroit, Michigan; and

WHEREAS, The first all-girls robotics team from Long Island,
TechnoQueens represented the Island in this World Expo amongst more than
55 teams from across the United States and the world; and

WHEREAS, This rookie team won many hearts with their prominent
presentation skills, impressing the judges with their sound research;
the team members also engaged kids, families of other participating
teams with their innovative model design; and

WHEREAS, TechnoQueens received the most coveted Team Choice Award
for exhibiting all Core Values of the program, as well as for the
creativity of their solution, outstanding Lego Model and ShowMe team
poster; and

WHEREAS, TechnoQueens also won the Research & Discovery Award for
their learning journey around Project Solution VillAquaTech, bringing
clean water to ideal and remote village communities in the world; and

WHEREAS, Furthermore, as part of the People Pipeline Campaign with
WaterAid, these extraordinary girls raised awareness about water access
and quality, and were able to bring clean water and toilets to children
in Nicaragua; and

WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering commitment to making an
impact to the world, even if it is small, TechnoQueens raised funds for
MDD Bal Bhavan, an orphanage in Karnal, India, in an effort to assist
underprivileged children acquire basic necessities; and

WHEREAS, This team of young ladies have worked tirelessly and have
truly immersed themselves in a subject they are passionate about; the
incredible talent displayed by this team is due in great part to the
efforts of Coach Rohit Bhatia and Mentor Rishab Bhaiya, skilled and
inspirational tutors, respected for their ability to develop potential
into excellence; and

WHEREAS, Poised eagerly with enthusiasm and determined purpose,
these students now stand honorably, with just pride in their
accomplishments and in eager anticipation of future challenges,
understanding and appreciating the caring counsel and support provided
by their teachers, coaches and parents; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate TechnoQueens upon the occasion winning the Top Award and
Team Choice Award in the FIRST Lego League Junior World Championship,
and for their participation in the FIRST Lego League World Invitational;
and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the members of TechnoQueens: Aarna Tyagi, Risha Bansal,
Amneet Kaur, Falak Doshi, Ria Bhatia, Gurnoor Kaur, and Shriya Bansal;
Coach Rohit Bhatia; and Mentor Rishab Bhaiya.
