HONORING Anne Guercio upon the occasion of being
named Merrick Woman of the Year by the Merrick
Chamber of Commerce on January 23, 2020
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the community
and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Anne Guercio upon the occasion of being named Merrick Woman of the Year
by the Merrick Chamber of Commerce, to be celebrated at its Annual
Installation and Awards Dinner on Thursday, January 23, 2020, at the
Chateau Briand, Carle Place, New York; and
WHEREAS, Anne Guercio is being recognized with this auspicious award
for her many accomplishments in making a difference in her community, as
well as for her kindness, support, and generosity; and
WHEREAS, A Merrick resident for 53 years, Anne Ruvolo-Guercio became
involved in the community at an early age; an integral member of her
church, she was a cantor and participant of the choir at Sacred Heart;
and
WHEREAS, Anne Guercio began her volunteer work in PTA leadership
with both the North Merrick and Bellmore-Merrick Central High School
District (CHSD); she also served as Trustee for the North Merrick School
District; and
WHEREAS, As the Key Club advisor at Calhoun High School for the past
six years, Anne Guercio become actively involved with the Merrick
Chamber and the Merrick Kiwanis, giving tirelessly of her time and
energies to local families and the community-at-large; and
WHEREAS, Anne Guercio is currently a Teaching Assistant at Calhoun
High School and works Per Diem as a Social Worker at New Horizons
Counseling Center; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her two amazing children,
Vincent and Catherine, and a wonderful son-in-law George; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend
individuals of outstanding character, who have shown initiative and
commitment toward constantly pursuing higher goals for themselves, and
acting as role models of leadership to be emulated by both peers and
young people; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Anne Guercio upon the occasion of being Merrick Woman of the Year
by the Merrick Chamber of Commerce on January 23, 2020; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Anne Guercio.
