CONGRATULATING Great Neck South Middle School upon
the occasion of winning the Long Island Regional
Middle School Science Bowl

WHEREAS, Educational competitions which serve to better prepare our
students for their future participation in the areas of Science and
Technology are worthy of praise and support; and

WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to commend and
pay tribute to those young people who, by achieving outstanding success
in educational competition, have inspired and brought pride to our
majestic Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate Great Neck South Middle School upon the occasion of winning
the Long Island Regional Middle School Science Bowl on Thursday, January
30, 2020, at Brookhaven National Laboratory, Upton, New York; and

WHEREAS, Educational competitions which serve to better prepare our
students for their future participation are worthy of praise and
support; and

WHEREAS, The Great Neck South Middle School team secured the Long
Island Regional Middle School Science Bowl on January 30, 2020; and

WHEREAS, These are not uncharted waters for the Great Neck South
Middle School team, who have now won the tournament the past three
years; and

WHEREAS, Poised eagerly with enthusiasm and determined purpose, this
team from Great Neck South Middle School stands honorably, with just
pride in their accomplishment and in eager anticipation of future
challenges, understanding and appreciating the caring counsel and
support provided by their teachers, coaches and parents; now, therefore,
be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the Great Neck South Middle School team upon the occasion
of winning the Long Island Regional Middle School Science Bowl; and be
it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the members of the Great Neck South Middle School team:
Colin Hu, Luke Huang, Emily Tsui, Erin Wong, Zican Zhang; Coaches Diane
Caplain and Tobias Hatten.
