COMMENDING the International Pentecostal City
Mission, Inc. Food Program upon the occasion of
hosting its 19th Annual Anniversary Awards Dinner on
February 22, 2020
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
organizations and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare
of the community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend the International Pentecostal City Mission, Inc. Food Program
upon the occasion of hosting its 19th Annual Anniversary Awards Dinner
on Saturday, February 22, 2020, in Brooklyn, New York; and
WHEREAS, The work of the officers and volunteers of the
International Pentecostal City Mission, Inc. Food Program is vital to
the community; through this year's theme, "There is more happiness in
giving than in receiving," they strengthen and assist families to move
beyond the food pantry; and
WHEREAS, An emergency food pantry, the International Pentecostal
City Mission, Inc. Food Program serves approximately 850 families each
week; many of these families are low to no income seeking to become more
economically self-sufficient; and
WHEREAS, The Mission Food Program's many services include Pantry
bags, referral for low-incoming housing, and SNAP; and
WHEREAS, This vital program also facilitates and makes accessible to
all members of the community various health initiatives, including free
nutritional information and counseling, mammogram screening, diabetes
screenings and testing supplies, blood pressure monitoring, referrals
for vision examinations and eyeglasses or surgery, a yearly Community
Health Fair, and tax preparation services; and
WHEREAS, Moving forward in 2020, the Mission Food Program plans on
continuing to expand its outreach programs to include a GED program, and
heart disease education and prevention; and
WHEREAS, The success of the Mission Food Program is in direct
correlation to the efforts of its staff, whose involvement is, and
always has been, characterized by an impressive commitment, an unbridled
enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of excellence in all
endeavors on behalf of the institution and the community it serves; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those
organizations which enhance the well-being and vitality of their
community and have shown a long and sustained commitment to excellence
certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the International Pentecostal City Mission, Inc. Food Program
upon the occasion of hosting its 19th Annual Anniversary Awards Dinner;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the International Pentecostal City Mission, Inc. Food
Program.
