CONGRATULATING Isabelle R. Sfinas upon the
occasion of celebrating her 100th Birthday

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to commemorate
and recognize certain milestones celebrated by citizens of this great
Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Senior citizens bring a wealth of experience and knowledge
to the increasingly active roles they play in today's society; their
past contributions and future participation are a vital part of, and
valuable asset to, the fabric of community life and activity; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate
Isabelle R. Sfinas upon the occasion of celebrating her 100th Birthday;
and

WHEREAS, Born on February 6, 1920, in Revere, Massachusetts,
Isabelle R. Sfinas was one of nine children of Frank and Catherine
Rubbicco; and

WHEREAS, Isabelle R. Sfinas lived on Tapley Avenue in Revere, where
one of her three sisters still resides; and

WHEREAS, On June 18, 1939, Isabelle R. Sfinas married Victor
Fuccillo; together, the couple raised four children, Carl, Frank,
Carmella and Catherine; and

WHEREAS, In 1951, Victor Sfinas passed away; it was then Isabelle R.
Sfinas went to work as a seamstress and dressmaker to support her
family; and

WHEREAS, She then married Charles Sfinas, and together they were
blessed with a son, Christos; and

WHEREAS, In 1960, the couple moved to New York Mills, New York,
where they owned and operated Courtview Restaurant on Charolette Street
until going their separate ways; Isabelle R. Sfinas then went to work at
the Mid-York Library; and

WHEREAS, In addition to her five children, today, Isabelle R. Sfinas
is the loving grandmother of 13 grandchildren and 16
great-grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Isabelle R. Sfinas, with her zest for life, has inspired
and enhanced the lives of her family and friends; and

WHEREAS, This exceptional centenarian has experienced the incredible
joys and sorrows characteristic of and reserved for those with the
stamina and courage to savor a full life; and

WHEREAS, Isabelle R. Sfinas has enriched the lives of those around
her through her joyous and sincere love for others and through the

quiescent charm and wisdom which comes only from a fullness of years;
and

WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to publicly
recognize those who have reached such a remarkable age and who have
witnessed and celebrated the innovations, cultural developments and
awesome achievements of this country during the last century, while
themselves contributing to the growth and excellence of this great
Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Isabelle R. Sfinas upon the occasion of celebrating her
100th Birthday; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Isabelle R. Sfinas.
