HONORING Cathy Boddy and Lorraine Castanio upon
the occasion of being named Merchants of the Year by
the Merrick Chamber of Commerce on January 23, 2020

WHEREAS, A great community is only as great as those persons and
organizations that provide exemplary service, whether through
participation in voluntary programs, through unique personal achievement
in their profession or other endeavors, or simply through a lifetime of
good citizenship; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Cathy Boddy and Lorraine Castanio upon the occasion of being named
Merchants of the Year by the Merrick Chamber of Commerce, which was
celebrated at its Annual Installation and Awards Dinner on Thursday,
January 23, 2020, at the Chateau Briand, Carle Place, New York; and

WHEREAS, Sisters Cathy Boddy and Lorraine Castanio have served as
positive influences on the business community of Merrick, New York,
their quaint specialty clothing store, Cathy's Touch, on Merrick Avenue,
has been a commerce staple in the community for two decades; and

WHEREAS, Specializing in event apparel for both boys and girls,
Cathy's Touch has been the go-to store when looking for ensembles and
accessories for a First Communion, Christening, baby-naming or wedding
party; two generations of Merrick Families have sought their beautiful
merchandise, outstanding tailoring and customer service; and

WHEREAS, Cathy Boddy and Lorraine Castanio also participate in a
plethora of community events, including but not limited to, school
fairs, festivals, Halloween parades, the SEPTA fashion shows, and
breakfast with Santa at Sacred Heart Church; and

WHEREAS, Furthermore, they provide gift cards, raffles and prizes
for the American Legion, Lions Club, temples, nursery schools, and PTA
groups; and

WHEREAS, Throughout their careers, Cathy Boddy and Lorraine Castanio
have served their clientele and community nobly; together, they have
positively contributed to the well-being of all the citizens and
organizations in Merrick, New York, and are worthy of the highest
praise; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Cathy Boddy and Lorraine Castanio upon the occasion of being named
Merchants of the Year by the Merrick Chamber of Commerce on January 23,
2020; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Cathy Boddy and Lorraine Castanio.
