HONORING Veteran Mark Jennings upon the occasion
of his designation for special recognition by the
Lake Delta Kiwanis Club on May 19, 2020

WHEREAS, Members of the Armed Services from the State of New York,
who have served so valiantly and honorably in wars in which this
country's freedom was at stake, as well as in the preservation of peace
in peacetime, deserve a special salute from this Legislative Body; and

WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to commend those
who have served in times of active conflict, as well as those who have
served in times of peace; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Veteran Mark
Jennings upon the occasion of his designation for special recognition by
the Lake Delta Kiwanis Club to be celebrated at a dinner on Tuesday, May
19, 2020, at Delta Lake Inn, Rome, New York; and

WHEREAS, Mark Jennings is being recognized for devoting much of his
time and energies to getting the Vietnam Veterans Memorial to the Lake
Delta Kiwanis Club; and

WHEREAS, Mark Jennings was born and raised in East Rome, New York,
to Helen and Louis Jennings; he graduated from Rome Catholic High in
1982 before enlisted in the New York Air National Guard, 174TH Tactical
Fighter Wing in January of 1983; and

WHEREAS, From June until August of that same year he completed Air
Force Basic Training at Lackland Air Force Base located in Texas; and

WHEREAS, Mark Jennings attended Heavy Equipment Operator Technical
School, in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri from August until November of
1983; and

WHEREAS, He was assigned to the 174th Civil Engineering Squadron
from November of 1983 until May of 1999; while assigned there, he was
deployed several times, both overseas and stateside, including: Germany,
Panama, Florida, Arizona, California, and South Carolina; and

WHEREAS, In May of 1999, Mark Jennings was transferred to the
Northeast Air Defense Sector (NEADS); he also attended the Command and
Control Technical School at Tyndall Air Force Base in Florida in January
of 2000; and

WHEREAS, Mark Jennings, who was on duty during 9/11, worked the
operations floor at NEADS from February of 2000 until April of 2010; and

WHEREAS, In addition, Mark Jennings cross trained into the
Logistics/Supply career field in April of 2010 and attended technical
school from April until June of 2020 at Lackland Air Force Base in
Texas; and

WHEREAS, At this time, NEADS became EADS and Mark Jennings was never
deployed while assigned to EADS; due to the nature of his 24/7 mission
his squad was classified as deployed in place; and

WHEREAS, Mark Jennings served the United States Air Force and the
New York Air National Guard from January of 1983 until November of 2018,
over 35 years in service, retiring with the esteemed rank of E-6
Technical Sergeant; and

WHEREAS, Having exhibited his patriotism both at home and abroad,
Mark Jennings demonstrates his love for his country and merits
forevermore, the highest respect of this State and Nation; and

WHEREAS, Our Nation's veterans deserve to be recognized, commended
and thanked by the people of the State of New York for their service and
for their dedication to their communities, their State and their Nation;
now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
Veteran Mark Jennings upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition by the Lake Delta Kiwanis Club on May 19, 2020; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Mark Jennings.
