MOURNING the death of Hayden Wright, distinguished
citizen and devoted member of her community
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Hayden Wright of Brooklyn, New York, died on Monday, April
13, 2020, at the age of 91; and
WHEREAS, Born on August 5, 1928, in Lynchburg, Virginia, Hayden was
the seventh of eight children of Prince Edward Hayden and Saint Bernice
Hayden; and
WHEREAS, Hayden Wright distinguished herself in her profession and
by her sincere dedication and substantial contribution to the welfare of
her community; and
WHEREAS, Hayden Wright was employed at Kings County Hospital as a
licensed Practical Pediatric Nurse; throughout her career, she was
responsible for saving the lives of many babies before she retired after
many years of distinguished service; and
WHEREAS, Hayden Wright's commitment to excellence, and her spirit of
humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise, including
charitable and civic endeavors; she was much loved by all who knew her,
and she prayed every day for her entire family; and
WHEREAS, Hayden Wright was the proud mother of three sons, Sheik
Shakeem Ala' D Muhammad I, Angelo Wright and Theodore Edward Wright; she
was also the loving grandmother of many grandchildren, great
grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, This amazing woman loved to dance, especially to Soca, and
was the last surviving member of the Hayden eight; she will be deeply
missed; and
WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Hayden Wright leaves behind a legacy which will long endure
the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all she
served and befriended; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Hayden Wright, and to express its sincere condolences
to her family; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Hayden Wright.
