CONGRATULATING four members of the Huntington High
School Girls Track Team upon the occasion of
capturing the NYSPHSAA Track and Field Championship
in the 4x200m relay on March 7, 2020

WHEREAS, Individual and team championships are highly sought after
in high school sports; this Legislative Body commends rare athletic
achievements and pays special recognition to those who pursue such
excellence and become examples for the youth of this great Empire State;
and

WHEREAS, Athletic competition helps to enhance both the moral and
physical development of young athletes, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the importance of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, and developing a sense of fair play and competition; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate four
members of the Huntington High School Girls Track Team upon the occasion
of capturing the Girls 4x200m relay NYSPHSAA Championship at the Ocean
Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island, New York, on Saturday, March
7, 2020; in addition, the girls won the New York State Federation title;
and

WHEREAS, To the praise and applause of their excited fans, Analisse
Batista, Alicia Brooks, Hope Bilkey and Olivia Conte won the 4x200m
relay with an outstanding time of 1:40.27, setting a new Section XI
record; and

WHEREAS, Proudly donning the school's colors of blue and white,
family members, friends, and the community at large loyally and
enthusiastically supported the Blue Devils throughout their journey as
they ended their season with an impressive overall record; and

WHEREAS, The athletic talent displayed by these young women is due
in great part to the efforts of Coach Mark Jackson and Coach Eddie
Santos, skilled and inspirational tutors respected for their ability to
develop potential into excellence; and

WHEREAS, Sports competition instills the values of teamwork, pride
and accomplishment, and Analisse Batista, Alicia Brooks, Hope Bilkey and
Olivia Conte have clearly made a contribution to the spirit of
excellence which is a tradition of their school; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate four members of the Huntington High School Girls Track Team
upon the occasion of capturing the NYSPHSAA Track and Field Championship
in the 4x200m relay on March 7, 2020; and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Analisse Batista, Alicia Brooks, Hope Bilkey, Olivia
Conte, Coach Mark Jackson and Coach Eddie Santos.
