CONGRATULATING Christine Peer upon the occasion of
her retirement after 34 years of distinguished
service to East Meadow Union Free School District

WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to take note of
and publicly acknowledge individuals of remarkable integrity and
character whose endeavors have enhanced the quality of education in this
great State; and

WHEREAS, The result of many individual efforts, the excellence and
the success of East Meadow Union Free School District is due in large
part to the efforts of Christine Peer; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate
Christine Peer upon the occasion of her retirement after 34 years of
distinguished service to East Meadow Union Free School District to be
celebrated on Friday, June 26, 2020; and

WHEREAS, A caring, competent and committed leader, Christine Peer's
character and integrity are the hallmarks of her life and work as an
educator, a community volunteer and as a person; and

WHEREAS, Christine Peer began and ended her illustrious teaching
career, which traversed more than three decades, in the East Meadow
Union Free School District where she held positions as a second, third,
and fourth grade teacher at Bowling Green Elementary School; and

WHEREAS, In addition, she was a computer teacher and a teaching
assistant in the Learning Center for fourth, fifth and sixth graders;
and

WHEREAS, A true asset to her profession, Christine Peer inspired her
countless students to become lifelong readers and learners, and served
on many professional committees, designing both curriculum and student
assessments; and

WHEREAS, The East Meadow community is indeed fortunate and blessed
to have had such a dedicated and respected educational leader; her
wisdom and contributions truly made a difference in the lives of those
lucky enough to have worked with her; and

WHEREAS, A significant contributor to education in New York State,
Christine Peer has continually demonstrated an impressive dedication, an
unparalleled devotion and an unremitting enthusiasm for the quality of
the educational programs and opportunities offered at the East Meadow
Union Free School District for the benefit of its faculty and students,
as well as for the entire community; and

WHEREAS, In completing her service as an educator, Christine Peer
leaves behind more than mere bricks and mortar; she leaves behind a
legacy to the students of East Meadow Union Free School District and to
the residents of its community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Christine Peer upon the occasion of her retirement, and to
wish her continued success in all her future endeavors; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Christine Peer.
