CONGRATULATING four members of the Huntington High
School Boys Track Team upon the occasion of
capturing the NYSPHSAA Track and Field Championship
in the 4x400m relay on Saturday, March 7, 2020

WHEREAS, Individual and team championships are highly sought after
in high school sports; this Legislative Body commends rare athletic
achievements and pays special recognition to those who pursue such
excellence and become examples for the youth of this great Empire State;
and

WHEREAS, Athletic competition helps to enhance both the moral and
physical development of young athletes, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the importance of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, and developing a sense of fair play and competition; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate four
members of the Huntington High School Boys Track Team upon the occasion
of capturing the NYSPHSAA Track and Field Championship in the 4x400m
relay at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island, on
Saturday, March 7, 2020; and

WHEREAS, To the praise and applause of their excited fans, Tyriek
Mays-McKoy, CJ Kiviat, Anthony Joseph and Justin Stevens won the 4x400
relay with an outstanding time of 3:19.91; these Blue Devils are now the
only team to ever dip below the 3:20 mark in the 4x400m relay in the
history of the indoor state championship; and

WHEREAS, The athletic talent displayed by these young men is due in
great part to the efforts of Head Coach Ron Wilson and Assistant Coaches
Eli Acosta and Haidee Ganz-Bonhurst, skilled and inspirational tutors,
respected for their ability to develop potential into excellence; and

WHEREAS, Proudly donning the school's colors of blue and white,
family members, friends, and the community at large loyally and
enthusiastically supported Tyriek Mays-McKoy, CJ Kiviat, Anthony Joseph
and Justin Stevens throughout their journey as they ended their season
with an impressive overall record; and

WHEREAS, Sports competition instills the values of teamwork, pride
and accomplishment, and Tyriek Mays-McKoy, CJ Kiviat, Anthony Joseph and
Justin Stevens have clearly made a contribution to the spirit of
excellence which is a tradition of their school; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate four members of the Huntington High School Boys Track Team
upon the occasion of capturing the NYSPHSAA Track and Field Championship
in the 4x400m relay on Saturday, March 7, 2020; and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Tyriek Mays-McKoy, CJ Kiviat, Anthony Joseph, Justin
Stevens, Head Coach Ron Wilson, Assistant Coaches Eli Acosta and Haidee
Ganz-Bonhurst, and Volunteer Assistant Onix Salva.
