COMMENDING Captain Richard Antanavige upon the
occasion of his retirement after 40 years of
distinguished service to the Oneida County Sheriff's
Office
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
honor those distinguished officers who would devote themselves to public
service, demonstrating great courage and diligence in providing for the
care and welfare of the citizens of their communities and this great
Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Within every community of the State of New York there are
certain individuals who, by virtue of their commitment and dedication,
command the respect and admiration of their community for their
exemplary contributions and service on behalf of others; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Captain
Richard Antanavige upon the occasion of his retirement after 40 years of
dedicated service to the Oneida County Sheriff's Office to be celebrated
at a party held in his honor on Saturday, February 2, 2019; and
WHEREAS, Captain Richard Antanavige began his illustrious career in
law enforcement when he joined the Oneida County Sheriff's Office in
1978; and throughout his 40 years he has held several positions within
the department including: Temporary Sergeant, 1986-1989; Permanent
Sergeant, 1989-2001; Lieutenant, 2001-2018; and Captain of Patrol, the
title from which he officially retired on December 27, 2018; in addition
to his service with the Oneida County Sheriff's Office, he also served
as President of the New York State Deputies Association; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those
dedicated public servants who unselfishly devote their lives to the
preservation of order and the protection of others are worthy and due
full praise for their commitment and noble endeavors; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Captain Richard Antanavige upon the occasion of his retirement
after 40 years of distinguished service to the Oneida County Sheriff's
Office, and to wish him the continued success in all his future
endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Captain Richard Antanavige.
