CONGRATULATING Stefan Brooks upon the occasion of
being named a 2020 Volunteer of the Year by the Food
Pantries for the Capital District
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to call attention
to the dedicated efforts of those individuals from across the State of
New York who volunteer their time and energies in service to the
community; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate Stefan Brooks upon the occasion of being named a 2020
Volunteer of the Year by the Food Pantries for the Capital District; and
WHEREAS, Stefan Brooks is being honored as a 2020 Volunteer of the
Year in recognition of his valued support of the Food Pantries for the
Capital District in the fight to end hunger; and
WHEREAS, The Food Pantries for the Capital District is a coalition
of more than 60 food pantries in Albany, Rensselaer, Saratoga, and
Schenectady Counties; and
WHEREAS, Since 1979, the Food Pantries for the Capital District has
been helping to feed the hungry by providing food pantries with
groceries for approximately 3.3 million meals annually; and
WHEREAS, For the past 15 years, Stefan Brooks has been volunteering
at the Guilderland Food Pantry, located in Albany County; and
WHEREAS, Stefan Brooks spends several hours each week training,
working with and coordinating, student volunteers to work at the pantry;
he is passionate about the mission of the pantry and about treating
clients with dignity and empathy; and
WHEREAS, Volunteerism is an essential element of all societies; it
provides a way in which the human values of community, caring and
serving can be sustained and strengthened; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, volunteerism promotes family and community
solidarity; most importantly, people who volunteer their time in civic
and charitable endeavors inspire others to the call of volunteerism; and
WHEREAS, Service to community and country is the foundation of our
society, and the contributions and future efforts of those in service to
them are a vital part of, and valuable asset to, the fabric of our
communities; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Stefan Brooks upon the occasion of being named a 2020
Volunteer of the Year by the Food Pantries for the Capital District; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Stefan Brooks.
