HONORING Jerry Abdelnour upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the 2020 Third Age
Achievement Award for Community Development by
Lifepath

WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of
certain extraordinary individuals it wishes to recognize for their
valued contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Jerry
Abdelnour upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the 2020
Third Age Achievement Award for Community Development by Lifepath, which
was celebrated at its 24th Annual Awards Ceremony on Friday, May 25,
2020; and

WHEREAS, Each year, this auspicious event recognizes the
contributions area residents and professionals have made in their
communities during the Third Age, after turning 60 years-old, of their
lives; Jerry Abdelnour is truly deserving of this prestigious award; and

WHEREAS, Lifepath is dedicated to keeping older neighbors and
friends healthy and safe by providing effective programs and support to
help them stay connected to their communities; and

WHEREAS, A native of Cohoes and the owner of J & J Service since
1983, Jerry Abdelnour has dedicated his life to ensuring the well-being
of others; and

WHEREAS, Jerry Abdelnour and his wife, Diane, are the proud parents
of two grown children, both of whom are now involved in the family
business; and

WHEREAS, This extraordinary man has spent the majority of his life
serving the community in a variety of ways; he even ran the Boston
Marathon for 25 years to raise funds for cancer; and

WHEREAS, In 2009, Jerry Abdelnour took his passion to serving the
community to a new level when he founded Building on Love, a non-profit
organization which helps families in the community who are facing a
life-altering medical condition by providing financial support to assist
with essential living expenses, allowing them to focus on the health of
their loved one; and

WHEREAS, Building on Love partners with local organizations,
including several Ronald McDonald House Charities chapters, and are
projected to provide over $100,000 in direct support to families in
2020; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the

recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Jerry Abdelnour upon the occasion of his designation as recipient
of the 2020 Third Age Achievement Award for Community Development by
Lifepath; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Jerry Abdelnour.
