COMMENDING the Commack High School Instrumental
and Vocal Jazz Ensemble, and Jazz Messengers upon
the occasion of participating in Music In Our
Schools Month on March 5, 2019

WHEREAS, The administrators of the Commack Central School District
are committed to actively promoting and nurturing a comprehensive music
program for all the students of the district; and

WHEREAS, Those same administrators have been supportive, actively
encouraging music program staff to devote their time and energy to
developing the talents of their students; and

WHEREAS, The Instrumental and Vocal Jazz Ensemble, and Jazz
Messengers of Commack High School, Commack, New York, comprised of
students of the highest musical and academic caliber, will be performing
on Tuesday, March 5, 2019, at the Empire State Plaza in Albany, in
celebration of Music In Our Schools Month; and

WHEREAS, The New York State School Music Association sponsors this
event and has helped it to evolve from a New York State Day into a
month-long national observance; and

WHEREAS, Talent, dedication, and countless hours of practice have
made the Commack High School Instrumental and Vocal Jazz Ensemble, and
Jazz Messengers the outstanding groups they are today; and

WHEREAS, Its members include: Christian Berbert, Jack Cascone,
Dylan Krukowski, Joe Verfenstein, Luke Maciejewski, Michael Parrinello,
Ryan Fagan, Evan Mintz, Alyssa Darragh, Melina Nasser, Cristina Vieytez,
Catherine Tawadros, Naomi Clarke, Dav Dokania, Nicholas Gembs, Sean
Henris, Michael Scaccianoce, Jared Davis, Matthew Rizzo, Joseph Duggan,
Harrison Rubin, Nicholas Semetsis, Brianna Lizzo, Luke Pont, Victoria
Barics, Riley Bode, Tyler Conforti, Emily Della Pietra, Daniel Feldman,
Angela Gullo, Janie Lobel, Sofia Safonte, and Lydia Von Hof; and

WHEREAS, Ably led by Director Dr. Frank Hansen, the members work
hard at their music rehearsals, classroom assignments and practice
sessions, fully aware that the amount of time and energy they are
willing to expend directly affects the quality of their music; and

WHEREAS, The Commack High School Instrumental and Vocal Jazz
Ensemble, and Jazz Messengers' members, along with their parents and
teachers, can be justifiably proud of their musical achievements and
their participation in Music In Our Schools Month; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body extend a warm welcome to the
staff and students of the Commack High School Instrumental and Vocal
Jazz Ensemble, and Jazz Messengers as they visit Albany for their
performance at the Empire State Plaza; and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the members of the Commack High School Instrumental and
Vocal Jazz Ensemble, and Jazz Messengers, and Director Dr. Frank Hansen.
