COMMENDING Investigator Dustin J. Hite upon the
occasion of his retirement after 23 years of
dedicated service to the New York State Police
Department

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
honor those distinguished citizens who would devote themselves to public
service, demonstrating great courage and diligence in providing for the
care and welfare of the citizens of their communities and this great
Empire State; and

WHEREAS, The quality of life in these communities is largely
reflective of the commitment and dedication demonstrated by members of
the agencies which serve to protect, preserve and maintain public order;
and

WHEREAS, Within every community of the State of New York there are
certain individuals who, by virtue of their commitment and dedication,
command the respect and admiration of their community for their
exemplary contributions and service on behalf of others; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Investigator Dustin J. Hite upon the occasion of his retirement after 23
years of dedicated service to the New York State Police Department,
celebrated at a party held in his honor on Friday, December 28, 2018, at
the Verona Fire Station in Verona, New York; and

WHEREAS, On February 22, 1996, Dustin J. Hite began his long and
distinguished career in law enforcement as a patrolmen for the Village
of Camden Police; from January 19, 1998, through August of 1999, he
served with the road patrol for the Onondaga County Sheriff's
Department; he then returned to the Camden Department where he worked
until he enlisted in the New York State Police Department on October 30,
2000; and

WHEREAS, Upon the successful completion of his training, Dustin J.
Hite served as a trooper from May 15, 2001, through October 19, 2006,
when he was promoted to Investigator, the title from which he officially
retired after more than two decades of service; and

WHEREAS, Throughout his tenure, Investigator Dustin J. Hite
completed numerous assignments such as Pulaski, Sylvan Beach, Troop D -
Forensics ID Unit, Fulton-BCI, Marcy-BCI, Oneida-BCI, and Counter
Terrorism; during the aftermath of the tragic events of 9/11, he
responded to World Trade Center recovery efforts; and

WHEREAS, From 2003-2018, Investigator Dustin J. Hite rode as a bike
trooper/EMT for Ride for Missing Children, and for 14 years, he served
as a bike EMT at the New York State Fair; he was also instrumental in
the great success of the New York State Police Centennial event in 2017;
and

WHEREAS, In addition to his role with the New York State Police,
Dustin J. Hite has been a 25-year member of both the Camden Volunteer
Fire Department and the Ambulance Squad; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those
dedicated public servants who unselfishly devote their lives to the
preservation of order and the protection of others are worthy and due
full praise for their commitment and noble endeavors; now, therefore, be
it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Investigator Dustin J. Hite upon the occasion of his retirement
after 23 years of dedicated service to the New York State Police
Department, and to wish him well in all his future endeavors; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Investigator Dustin J. Hite.
