HONORING David and Cathy Semenoff upon the
occasion of their designation for special
recognition by the Academy of Holy Names on November
15, 2018

WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to recognize
and pay tribute to those individuals within the medical field who
distinguish themselves through professional excellence and who have made
significant contributions to the quality of life of citizens in the
State of New York; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
David and Cathy Semenoff upon the occasion of their designation for
special recognition by the Academy of Holy Names to be celebrated at its
Partners in Education Scholarship Luncheon on Thursday, November 15,
2018, at Wolferts Roost Country Club, Loudonville, New York; and

WHEREAS, David and Cathy Semenoff are being recognized for their
extraordinary efforts in providing a community where students can grow
and learn in a positive and outstanding environment; and

WHEREAS, David and Cathy Semenoff have always gone above and beyond
for the good of the Academy of the Holy Names; by their very nature,
they exemplify the impact and value of volunteerism and inspire others
by their example and leadership; and

WHEREAS, The loving parents of three children, Anne, Kate, and Alex,
David and Cathy Semenoff participated in numerous class trips, picnics,
sporting events, special events, and father/daughter dinner dances; each
has served on the Board of Trustees at the Academy of Holy Names, and
Cathy was the Chair of the Board from 2012 to 2014; and

WHEREAS, Even now, Cathy Semenoff can often be found volunteering in
the Development Office, and is quite willing to stuff envelopes as well
as proofread the all-important Annual Report; and

WHEREAS, Dr. David Semenoff is a graduate of Johns Hopkins (BA) and
Albany Medical College (MD); he completed his general surgery residency
at Georgetown University and his residency in neurosurgery at Albany
Medical Center; and

WHEREAS, Currently, Dr. David Semenoff serves as Associate Professor
with the Department of Neurosurgery at Albany Medical College; and

WHEREAS, Cathy Semenoff earned her BSN from Duke University and her
MSN from Catholic University; she is a registered nurse in the PACU at
Albany Medical Center; and

WHEREAS, Both the values and the education their daughters received
while attending the Academy of Holy Names were most important to David
and Cathy Semenoff; even though their daughters graduated over 15 years

ago, their commitment to the school has been unwavering and continues to
serve as a role model to the entire school community; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor David and Cathy Semenoff upon the occasion of their designation
for special recognition by the Academy of Holy Names on November 15,
2018; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to David and Cathy Semenoff.
