HONORING Nina Leach upon the occasion of her
designation for special recognition by the Dinner
Table Doc at its Eighteen Under 18 Awards Ceremony
on March 9, 2019

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor the youth
of today, and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and achievements best
exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
Nation; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Nina Leach upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition
by the Dinner Table Doc at its Eighteen Under 18 Awards Ceremony on
March 9, 2019, at Weeksville Heritage Center, Brooklyn, New York; and

WHEREAS, The Dinner Table Doc's Eighteen Under 18 Awards Ceremony
was created to shine a light on students who are creating change in
their communities; unlike other awards ceremonies, the conversation will
lead a call to action for young women in the audience to participate by
pitching their own community centered initiatives; and

WHEREAS, At an early age, Nina Leach was labeled a completely
non-verbal child after being diagnosed with developmental delays
requiring speech, occupational and physical therapy; and

WHEREAS, With a brilliant mind, love for learning and meticulous
tenacity, Nina Leach overcame much adversity to become a top 1%
performer in New York State exams each year; and

WHEREAS, Affectionately known as Dr. Nina Leach, this extraordinary
young women is now an A Better Chance scholar and the proud recipient of
an annual tuition award at a globally recognized college prep school
where she is currently in seventh grade; and

WHEREAS, Selected for the Icahn School of Medicine at Mt. Sinai
Girls Empowered in Medicine & Science program, 12-year old Nina Leach is
truly on her way to achieving her goal of becoming a surgeon; and

WHEREAS, Nina Leach, with her bright smile, infectious laugh and
larger than life generous spirit, is also a Camp Mariah All-Star Camper
and has stepped at the Barclays Center twice; and

WHEREAS, Nina Leach has distinguished herself as a young woman of
superlative ability, establishing a high standard of excellence and
purposefulness of life rarely achieved in youthful years; and

WHEREAS, With her sense of civic duty and her commitment to others,
Nina Leach represents the best development of the potential which is
inherent in our most precious resource, our youth; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Nina Leach upon the occasion of her designation for special

recognition by the Dinner Table Doc at its Eighteen Under 18 Awards
Ceremony on March 9, 2019; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Nina Leach.
