COMMENDING McCarroll's The Village Butcher upon
the occasion of its designation as recipient of the
Lifetime Achievement Award by the Bethlehem Chamber
of Commerce on April 11, 2019

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize the
achievements of those individuals and businesses that contribute
substantially to the economic vitality of their communities, thereby
enhancing economic well-being of the entire Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend McCarroll's The Village Butcher upon the occasion of its
designation as recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award by the
Bethlehem Chamber of Commerce to be celebrated at its 34th Annual Awards
Dinner on Thursday, April 11, 2019, at Normanside Country Club, Delmar,
New York; and

WHEREAS, McCarroll's The Village Butcher was established in 1921, on
Central Avenue in Albany, New York, when James A. McCarroll, Sr.
followed his passion and began serving the community with delicious
meats and groceries; and

WHEREAS, James A. McCarroll, Jr. followed in his father's footsteps
and joined the family business after serving in the United States
military; and

WHEREAS, Previously having several locations in Albany, the
McCarroll's moved the business to Delmar, New York; during this time,
James A. McCarroll III started to cut meat at a very early age, sitting
on a stool at the block with a butter knife; and

WHEREAS, Since those early days, both the business and family have
grown and proudly continue the tradition of providing quality and
service; James A. McCarroll III is joined by his wife, Christine, and
their two children, Lauren and James A. IV, as well as the fifth
generation, two granddaughters; and

WHEREAS, Today, located in the Delmar Marketplace at 406 Kenwood
Avenue, McCarroll's The Village Butcher is truly a fixture in the
community and a centerpiece in the town of Bethlehem; and

WHEREAS, With a steadfast commitment to serve the community and
supply a pleasant shopping experience, McCarroll's The Village Butcher
offers delicious meats cut by its Master butchers, Boars Head products,
award winning breakfast sandwiches, lunch sandwiches, fresh homemade
salads, ready-to-go meals and baked goods; and

WHEREAS, Over its distinguished history spanning nearly a century,
McCarroll's The Village Butcher has demonstrated continuous service to
the residents and communities which it serves; and

WHEREAS, The success of McCarroll's The Village Butcher is in direct
correlation to the efforts of its hardworking and dedicated staff, whose
involvement is, and always has been, characterized by an impressive
commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of
excellence in all endeavors on behalf of the business and the community
it serves; and

WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body
acknowledges this exceptional business, its contributions to the local
and state economies, and its vibrant role in improving the quality of
life in its community, fully confident that it will continue to enjoy
the sparkling successes it has experienced thus far; now, therefore, be
it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend McCarroll's The Village Butcher upon the occasion of its
designation as recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award by the
Bethlehem Chamber of Commerce on April 11, 2019; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to McCarroll's The Village Butcher, Delmar, New York.
