Senate Resolution No. 627

COMMENDING Frank A. Pupello, Jr. posthumously upon
the occasion of his designation as recipient of a
Liberty Medal, the highest honor bestowed upon an
individual by the New York State Senate

WHEREAS, Members of the Armed Services from the State of New York,
who have served so valiantly and honorably in wars in which this
country's freedom was at stake, as well as in the preservation of peace
in peacetime, deserve a special salute from this Legislative Body; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Frank A.
Pupello, Jr. posthumously upon the occasion of his designation as
recipient of a Liberty Medal, the highest honor bestowed upon an
individual by the New York State Senate, to be presented at the
Rensselaer County Honor a Deceased Veteran Ceremony on Monday, March 11,
2019; and

WHEREAS, The New York State Senate Liberty Medal was established by
Resolution and is awarded to individuals who have merited special
commendation for exceptional, heroic, or humanitarian acts on behalf of
their fellow New Yorkers; and

WHEREAS, Frank Anthony Pupello, Jr. was born on April 19, 1942, in
Brockton, Massachusetts, the son of Elizabeth (Teceno) and Frank
Pupello, Sr.; he earned his bachelor's degree in business administration
from Russell Sage College; and

WHEREAS, On February 12, 1963, Frank A. Pupello, Jr. enlisted in the
United States Marine Corps and proudly served his country as a Corporal
during the Vietnam War; and

WHEREAS, For his courageous service, Frank A. Pupello, Jr. was
awarded the Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and National
Defense Medal; and

WHEREAS, Upon the completion of his military service on June 10,
1966, Frank A. Pupello, Jr. owned and operated the Nassau Tire Company
for 20 years in East Greenbush, New York, and worked at the Watervliet
Arsenal until his official retirement in 2001; and

WHEREAS, Frank A. Pupello, Jr. married the former Lynn A. Staats on
April 18, 1967, in Albany, New York; together, they raised four
daughters, Lynette Rossello, Lisa O'Connell, Joyce Pupello and Tina
Pupello; and were the loving grandparents of five grandchildren,
Giovani, Kelsie, Andie, Mason and Sam; and

WHEREAS, Active in his community, Frank A. Pupello, Jr. held the
title of President for both the East Greenbush Rotary and Chamber of
Commerce, and performed with the Spotlight Players for 10 years; he was
also a vital member of the V.F.W. Post No. 1019, and volunteered his
time and energies at the Albany Stratton VA Hospital; and

WHEREAS, Frank A. Pupello, Jr. died on March 12, 2004, at the age of
61 and is buried in Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, New
York; and

WHEREAS, Residents of this great State must never forget the courage
with which these men and women served their country, and must recognize
that no greater debt is owed than that owed to those who gave their
lives for their beloved Nation and to those who continue to be missing
in action; and

WHEREAS, Having exhibited his patriotism both at home and abroad,
Frank A. Pupello, Jr. demonstrated his love for his country and merits
forevermore the highest respect of his State and Nation; and

WHEREAS, Our Nation's veterans deserve to be recognized, commended
and thanked by the people of the State of New York for their service and
for their dedication to their communities, their State and their Nation;
now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Frank A. Pupello, Jr. posthumously upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of a Liberty Medal, the highest honor bestowed
upon an individual by the New York State Senate; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Frank A. Pupello, Jr.
