HONORING Nomzamo Mbatha upon the occasion of her
designation for special recognition by FACE Africa
at its 10th Annual WASH Gala on March 23, 2019

WHEREAS, The unity of our State and Nation is built upon the
compassion of individuals such as Nomzamo Mbatha who uphold the values
of community life and who, through their great actions, epitomize the
best of humanity; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Nomzamo
Mbatha upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition by
FACE Africa at its 10th Annual WASH Gala on Saturday, March 23, 2019, in
New York City; and

WHEREAS, Called upon to contribute her time and talents to countless
civic and charitable endeavors, Nomzamo Mbatha has always given of
herself unstintingly; and

WHEREAS, An actress and UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador, Nomzamo Mbatha is
a committed and steadfast supporter of those suffering from depression
and anxiety; and

WHEREAS, Through her foundation, Lighthouse Foundation, and her
company, Nomzamo Mbatha Investments, Nomzamo Mbatha works with her
corporate endorsers to improve access to education and business
opportunities for youth; and

WHEREAS, For the past three years, Nomzamo Mbatha has been
organizing and producing her annual Youth Connect Summit for township
youths; and

WHEREAS, In recognition of her selfless and tireless work, Ludwig's
Roses has bestowed upon Nomzamo Mbatha her own rose, called The Nomzamo,
making her the fourth South African to receive this honor alongside
Nobel Laureates Dr. Nelson Mandela and Archbishop Desmond Tutu, as well
as political stalwarts and South Africa's beacon of black love,
Albertina and Walter Sisulu; and

WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Nomzamo Mbatha has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Nomzamo Mbatha has displayed
throughout her life; and

WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent
of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records this tribute to
Nomzamo Mbatha, that future generations may know and appreciate her
admirable character, her many benevolent deeds, and the respect and
esteem in which she is held by her peers; now, therefore, be it


RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Nomzamo Mbatha upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by FACE Africa at its 10th Annual WASH Gala on March 23,
2019; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Nomzamo Mbatha.
