HONORING Vanessa Mdee upon the occasion of her
designation for special recognition by FACE Africa
at its 10th Annual WASH Gala on March 23, 2019

WHEREAS, The unity of our State and Nation is built upon the
compassion of individuals such as Vanessa Mdee who uphold the values of
community life and who, through their great actions, epitomize the best
of humanity; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Vanessa Mdee
upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition by FACE
Africa at its 10th Annual WASH Gala on Saturday, March 23, 2019, in New
York City, where she will serve as the Keynote Speaker; and

WHEREAS, Called upon to contribute her time and talents to countless
civic and charitable endeavors, Vanessa Mdee has always given of herself
unstintingly; and

WHEREAS, Recording artist and singer songwriter Vanessa Mdee is a
GAVI Ambassador and an active voice against cervical cancer; she is also
a member of FACE Africa's 2019 Honorary Committee; and

WHEREAS, In 2015, Vanessa Mdee joined forces with some of Africa's
most popular songstresses and recorded a song which was released in
conjunction with a report by ONE titled, "Poverty is Sexist: Why girls
and women must be at the heart of the fight to end extreme poverty"; and

WHEREAS, Furthermore, the report shows how unlocking women's
economic potential could improve the lives of everyone in society; and

WHEREAS, Vanessa Mdee is the founder of the Udada Foundation, an
organization with the mission of providing sustainable solutions for
quality education for women and girls; and

WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Vanessa Mdee has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Vanessa Mdee has displayed
throughout her life; and

WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent
of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to
Vanessa Mdee, that future generations may know and appreciate her
admirable character, her many benevolent deeds, and the respect and
esteem in which she is held by her peers; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Vanessa Mdee upon the occasion of her designation for special

recognition by FACE Africa at its 10th Annual WASH Gala on March 23,
2019; and it be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Vanessa Mdee.
