HONORING Caroline Wanga upon the occasion of her
designation for special recognition by FACE Africa
at its 10th Annual WASH Gala on March 23, 2019

WHEREAS, The unity of our State and Nation is built upon the
compassion of individuals such as Caroline Wanga who uphold the values
of community life and who, through their great actions, epitomize the
best of humanity; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Caroline
Wanga upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition by
FACE Africa at its 10th Annual WASH Gala on Saturday, March 23, 2019, in
New York City, where she will serve as the Keynote Speaker; and

WHEREAS, Called upon to contribute her time and talents to countless
civic and charitable endeavors, Caroline Wanga has always given of
herself unstintingly; and

WHEREAS, A Kenyan citizen, Caroline Wanga serves as Chief Diversity
and Inclusion Officer and Vice President of Human Resources of Target
Corporation; and

WHEREAS, In this capacity, Caroline Wanga leads the company's
strategic intent to champion an inclusive society with accountability
for inclusive guest experiences, a diverse and inclusive work
environment, and societal impact; and

WHEREAS, As a cultural catalyst, Caroline Wanga fuels Target's
business objectives through the company's performance based diversity
and inclusion goals; and

WHEREAS, Caroline Wanga has been the proud recipient of numerous
awards and accolades, including being named as Top Executive in
Diversity by Black Enterprise; and

WHEREAS, A true asset to her community, Caroline Wanga is a member
of the Executive Leadership Council (ELC), the Talladega College Board
of Trustees, Twitter's Intersectionality, Culture & Diversity Advisory
Board, and is a co-chair of the Retail Industry Leaders Association
(RILA) Diversity & Inclusion Leadership Council; and

WHEREAS, With her throughout has been her daughter, Cadence, who has
shown her love and support and rejoices in her many achievements; and

WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Caroline Wanga has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Caroline Wanga has displayed
throughout her life; and

WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent
of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to
Caroline Wanga, that future generations may know and appreciate her
admirable character, her many benevolent deeds, and the respect and
esteem in which she is held by her peers; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Caroline Wanga upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by FACE Africa at its 10th Annual WASH Gala on March 23,
2019; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Caroline Wanga.
