MOURNING the death of Kent M. Brown, distinguished
citizen and devoted member of his community
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Kent M. Brown died on February 21, 2019, at the age of 60;
and
WHEREAS, Kent Brown was born on June 9, 1958, in New York City
Presbyterian Hospital to Naomi and Reginald Brown; he graduated from
Herndon High School in Virginia in 1976 before attended Borough of
Manhattan Community College earning certifications in information
technologies; and
WHEREAS, Kent M. Brown distinguished himself in his profession and
by his sincere dedication and substantial contribution to the welfare of
his community; and
WHEREAS, For 25 years, Kent Brown worked as a Network Systems
Analyst for various companies; he enjoyed volunteering, one of his most
recent commitments being Assistant Coach for Matt Haven Campus High
School Boys' Varsity Basketball Team for a number of years; and
WHEREAS, Kent M. Brown's commitment to excellence, and his spirit of
humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise, including
charitable and civic endeavors; and
WHEREAS, Kent brown received countless awards, certificates of
appreciation, and trophies for his team's victories, and was a dedicated
member of the Ancient and Honorable Fraternity of Free and Accepted
Masons at Samson Lodge, as well as an alumni of the New York Pen &
Scroll Cadet Corp (RatPatrol); and
WHEREAS, Predeceased by his mother and father, Kent M. Brown is
survived by Rachelle Brown-Thomas (sister), Andre Foster (nephew),
Antwanette Neal (niece), Vencent Thomas Jr. (nephew), Cheyanne Foster
(great-niece), & Ashton Foster (great-nephew); and
WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Kent M. Brown leaves behind a legacy which will long endure
the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all he
served and befriended; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Kent M. Brown, distinguished citizen and devoted
member of his community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Kent M. Brown.
